PLEASE help !! my game is ruined by a mod !

I installed the zone of alienation mod, my pc couldnt handle it so i uninstalled it, the problem is some mod "residue" remains and i have no idea how to delete it.

I deleted the gamedata folder and even reinstalled the game several times but still unbelivably its there. The loading screen is still the mod's which doesnt bother me, but the hand texture is all messed up by a mix of the mods and vanilla and its effectively ruinign my game by killing immersion, i cant even enjoy the game anymore and i dont know how to delete this.

Please help.

When you un-installed did you delete the folder where the save games are c:\ user\public whatever?

I would un- install again, search for anything stalker/alienation and delete, window key r then type regedit.exe and do the same [after backing up] then re install to a different location; c:\new\stalker xxx.

A good free cleaner is CCleaner.

Edit. Just a thought; depending on how expert you are - leave regedit as a last resort

Thanks for answering, i did delete the save files folder and i do have ccleaner and run it several times since i thought it would help too. I dont know how to do the regedit thing or what to look for, could you help me out with a bit of a tutorial ? Anything else you can think of ? other folders that hold files ?

Probably a silly question, but do you still have a gamedata folder in the main Stalker folder? Not sure how you could still get elements of a mod showing up without that.

The mod might have left registry entries; messing with the registries dicey and I'm not comfortable doing it myself so Google.

I would re install windows, stalker and back up to a mirror image for future problems. I also keep duplicates of clean updated game/ mod folders for quick swap in case of corruption.

Some SOC mods require different versions of the game 1.04/1.06 so before you update, copy and store them.
Edit: I use this free program http://www.backup-utility.com/download.html

The only way a mod could mess with the registry would be through an installer, badade, there's no access to that from actual mod files.

ZoA is contained entirely in the gamedata folder (besides one tiny binary modification). If there's anything left from it, gamedata was not actually deleted completely. You may have fallen victim to the dreaded Windows Virtual Store. Run the game as Administrator. If the mod stuff goes away, then that's your issue.

I think you may have cracked it there TK, I play off line and have disabled UAC. I didn't know whether an installer was used or not but I like these threads as I always learn something.

This program may help if you use UAC and have problems with V.Store.

Edit: oh and why do you think this never happened before ? i mean ive installed lots of mod in the past.
