Blue Bar on the HUD

Hey all,

You know the blue bar on the HUD that shows the condition of your outfit. And you know the blue bar in your inventory that shows your Psi Health.

How can I swap them around? So that Psi Health is measured by the blue bar on the HUD instead?

Any help would be great, if you could point me in the right direction. I can't seem to figure out what defines these blue bars.

It's engine level. If you want to change anything fundamental about the HUD other than how it looks you will have to reimplement those things from script.

No script. Like I said, it's engine level. The vanilla HUD elements are not accessible to mods. If you want to do anything with that you're going to have to write your own from scratch.

Oh, I get you now. That's tricky then. Are you familiar with this, or have you done anything like this before?

Coincidentally, I've been working on a fully scripted HUD lately. Placeholder art notwithstanding.

ok, awesome, that's actually a really cool concept. It's very dynamic, like a smart phone OS. I'm trying to figure out what all the icons and bars are, so....

- The red one is bleeding/blood loss,
- The pink one is psy/mental health,
- The yellow one indicates over weight,
- The green one is wpn jam, or poor weapon condition,
- The blue one means your outfit is worn.

I can't quite tell what the relationship is with the bars, does high mean bad? Or high means good? It looks like you use a med kit at about 10/11sec, then the bars increase to full and disappear...

Rebalanced already has a script file for displaying radiation level on the HUD, it's very cool.

If I comment out
<progress>
<texture>ui_hud_shk_armour</texture>
</progress>

in the maingame_16.xml, it no longer shows the armour progress bar. So, what code do I now need to add to my script to get a psy indication bar to use that very same texture in the very coordinates?

Red meter is health, blue meter is stamina, yellow meter is radiation.

If you already have scripted HUD elements, why didn't you just look at those to see how they work?

How do you show their intensity, for example radiation level?

It's just a collection of statics that switch texture and color. More work than one stretching texture but it has benefits.
