I was thinking and i realized that a Crossbow wouldent be a bad addition, cause its silent and quite accurate.
---END QUOTATION---

Crossbows have been over done in the last few games they have been in and in truth they are less then useful. They don't have a huge range, have a far greater projectile drop then a round and in turth at the max distances it can be used it has bearly enough power to drive into the persons body let alone through most of todays armors. And regardless of populour beleaf they are not really that accurate, oh well made they are quite good but most you would find in the zone wouldn't be top of the line and have a good chance to have been worn down from time and abuse, making it less accurate.

If anything a rifle with a suppressor and sub sonic would work far better then a crossbow. Russia has some guns which could easily put a bullet accurate and as silent as a crossbow at the same range, I would rather these weapons in the game other then a crossbow.

Actually, the crossbow has more penetrating power than most standard issue rifles. The medieval crossbow was the world's first armour piercing weapon. It could wound at 250 yard, kill at 100 and pierce armour plate at 60. Modern Crossbows can sling bolts at some 320 kilometers per hour. A 1.25 ounce bolt (~35.44g) slung at 290fps (88.39 m/s) produces an energy of ~460 footpounds (~624 Joules). That's about 1/3 a 5.56 NATO at the muzzle, but the crossbow will penetrate more than 3 sandbags lined up in a row whereas a .303 rifle will penetrate none at the same (close) range, according to a demonstration I saw on tv several years ago. I surmise this is because the crossbow bolt has much more inertia than the smaller bullet. (I don't feel like converting grains to grams right now).

The silent ammunition you describe can pierce a helmet at 20 meters. I would guess that a modern crossbow would be able to pierce a helmet at greater distances since it would retain it's energy for a longer duration.

But then again, why be silent? Even with a silencer, people can hear a clack clack clack for a hundred yards. You're in a 30k square area. I'm sure anyone who wants to get in on the fight would be able to hear you regardless (not counting the silent russian ammo or the crossbow).

Thank you, My uncle was a marine Recone member. He was a infared camera specialist and was alone all the time. His main weapon was a crossbow, silent, acurate, not great distance, but enough.

I stand corrected by our local physics expert.

Have them in if you want, I still don't think they are accurate though unless they are well made and well cared for.

Was just talking to a friend about this and he brought up the best against for a crossbow... reload time and defence. These things, the ones with even half a chance of doing a decent range, where bulky large things. To reload you tended to need to put your foot through a ring and this means moving around while reloading is next to imposable.

I would like to see the old M14 in the game, accurate and automatic, with the classic 7.62 NATO round.

A Springfield 30-06 would be nice. Has a decent punch, bolt action and nearly a hundred years old.

An old Browning .45 1911 pistol, very reliable with stopping power.

Shotgun slugs.

Please no uzi's they are worthless.

An OICW would be cool but I have no clue how it could be fitted into the game.

Claymores with radio detonator.

G3A3

Definately a M79 40mm breach loaded grenade launcher. It would be nice with diferent types of ammo: Flechete (think of it as a 40mm shotgun), HE rounds, WP (White Phorosfurus) rounds, SM (smoke), and maybe incinerary rounds. At close range it would shoot a 40mm slug. If the round doesn't spin a certain amount of time the round isn't primed.

The FN FAL should definately make a showing in the game.

Having many similarities to the M-14 in caliber and capabilities but being almost as widespread throughout not just Europe but worldwide as the AK-47/74. And old and reliable friend on the battlefield. Its only real shortcoming was the 20 round clip, but hey you can't have it all.
