So which options are for accuracy, specifically, and how do they work?

I wanted to fix the accuracy on some of the guns. Especially the sawed off... kind of dumb they can hit/kill me from across the level. Sawed off shotguns should have horrible accuracy.

I tried changing some of the guitar songs but the game won't use mine, it keeps playing the default one's.
I got some sound mods installed and they work :S

ok i ahve made a tunder (groza) with a scope using the unique_itmes.ltx.

ive added it to the trader_trader.ltx and made the strings for it.

when i start a game on stalker it crashes as soon as it is loaded and my pasted report shows this:

Two questions:
Is there a way to make scrolling through inventory using mouse wheel faster? It's really really really slow by default.
Is there a way to replace the blue armor bar with a yellow radiation bar on the bottom right?

I have a question about stalker, i modded some things from float32, in stalker-shoc dir, and now i have the left part of the screen ingame with writings(?) (something about fps, render, engine, etc).How can i make it dissapear?
Another one:when i open a creature with notepad, what part is related with its health?I modified the "health" but with no difference

Long time game modder here, having difficulty finding a value in the db files.
I am looking for the value that determines how long an NPCs icon stays on the mini-map. All neutral NPCs have icons constantly on the mini-map, while hostile icons dissapear quickly. I am trying to keep the hostile icons (red) on the mini map display, and have them tracked just as the neutral NPCs.
Has anyone looked into this? Any help would be greatly appreciated...

can anyone help me in my editing the where and when of the spawning. i know it has got something to do with the all.spawn file but how do i edit that. i know i gotta use a hexeditor but wtf is that lol? all i want is people fighting in rostok (duty, freedom, mercs, bandits, mutants).

I only just saw this thread, and thanks to the creator for giving credit, it was a well written post


Files to be edited gamedata/config/creatures

There are several ways to edit the perception of creatures in the game.
eye_fov affects how broad a human or mutant's peception is. A creature with a fov of 170 would be able to see 85 degrees to the left and right while looking straight ahead.
eye_range is the distance a creature can see to detect another creature. Once the creature has been detected, I'm pretty sure this range is thrown out the window.

I'm not sure exactly how these variables work, but I can tell you that max_view_distance_free is a number which affects a creature's vision range when he's unalert, and max_view_distance_danger is used to give a creature increased vision while alert. stian.hoiland of the official Stalker forums argues that in the heat of combat, max vision should be decreased due to confusion, fear, and adrenaline. It's up to you what to do with the variables.

Natace from the forums (best stalker site in my opinion, including the official one) has found that decreasing the stalker_sound_perceive npc variable from 1 to 0.2 makes it much easier to sneak up on stalkers. Works with all humans? Not sure. Too easy? You be the judge.

Will this stop their "invisible"alarm? when i stealth kill someone with no one around for 20m with the knife or silence pistol, everyone around the base gets alerted and comes in guns blazing.

I'd like to elaborate on that "sound_perceive" line.
This does not make it so you can run up behind an enemy without them hearing you.
You can only crawl/sneak up to enemies, otherwise, they will hear you like normal, which is fair enough, and it's what we all wanted.

As for whether other enemies hear their friendly has died, they don't unless they're close, or see the dead body, which is fine, no problems there.
So simply by changing that one function, you can sneak up to enemies and be stealthy in the game.
It is rather annoying to see the latest mods coming out that apparently FIX up the stealth, and they completely miss this line, but instead just change the view cone, view sight and all of those things which don't really make stealth much better.

The other thing which I havent touched in ages was their vision at night, it was something like sight_illumination or something like that which allows the player to hide in the dark.
There are stealth mods out there I think that have that bit fixed up.
Each word should be at least 3 characters long.
