Can't get mods to work?

I'm having a bit of an issue with Stalker when it's patched to 1.0005.

I've extracted all the gamedata files to a gamedata folder, and edited the fsgame.ltx file to show gamedata=true, but every time I try to start the game, it crashes.

I've tried it on a clean install (ie installed, patched to 1.0005, extracted files, edited), and still nothing.

Any idea what this could be?

Sounds like you're trying to get a 1.0004 mod to work with 1.0005 game...

The thing is that this happens even if I haven't modified any files. It could have something to do with how the files were extracted, since the program I was using extracts the files one .dbx file at a time, and I did them in 3-file batches (ie extracting say gamedata.db0, .db1 and .db2 at the same time). I'll try extracting them with tool.7z, and see if it changes anything.

Well, the last ones (dbb, bdc) are added by the patches and contain new versions of some files in the retail db's, so if you extract these last, the game should be using the newest files. If you unpack the db's in a mixed order, you might overwrite a newer file with an older one, and that most certainly will cause problems.

Yeah it was something with the way I extracted the files. I did it again using tools.7z, and the game works now. W00t! ^.^

Koki, using "tools" and "all.spawn" with site:gsc-game.com in Google had this for the first entry:

"Latest Tools for modding"
[link]https://www.gsc-game.com/index.php?t=community&s=forums&s_game_type=xr&thm_id=11328&sec_id=16[/link]

That will tell you about acdc.pl (recommended; needs Perl) and xrSpawner.

Here's a possible reference:

"Editing all.spawn"

Hello guys .

i want to tweaks AI skillz. few way to do it i imagine .

1) change the skills of aiming ?

2) add a small latency to AI conscience. make them not instantly reacts.

i 'm yet in X16 laboratory, and while i was trying to survive with all these bastars geared with some saw off gun and bloody buckshot , i realized that they were able to shoot me , as fast if not faster than i could do.

it's absolutly incredible . Devs should add this small latency , because when you run into a corridor , they see you since the first pixel , while you can't , blam human brain ...

so , my request consist to know how slow them down , just a bit , maybe 800-1000 millisecond . i don't want change my weapons mod , i prefer realism , but with that, game is too hard.

thanks ! :F

ps: what is the parameter "can_select_items = off" for in m_stalker file ?
