Start it up, select the db file you want to extract, then select a folder where the extracted files should end up.

If you mean the newer extractor, select Stalker's folder, where the gamedata.dbx files are located, select the folder in which you want extracted files to go, then choose Update.

This will show you the files in the database. Then you can choose which files you want to extract. You can select multiple files by holding Shift or Ctrl.

Is there an explanation anywhere of how to make your own repair mod, for weapons and armour?

I haven't been able to find one anywhere, and the search function here is very basic and turns up too many unhelpful posts.

To reiterate: I'm not looking for a repair mod. I'm looking for an explanation of how to do one yourself.

strangely im looking for the same thing. but im planing on making a trader mod to go with it.. start with the basics for me..
anyway.. i can edit weapons and all.. but how do i actually make one and give it to a trader so he can sell it?

You do know the reason why they made the red dot on the map disappear is so you don't abuse the game and only kill enemys because of the mini-map I personally don't mind that at all because it takes more skill to kill enemys then look on a mini-map and fighting where they are thats like saying Enemy 1 is hiding under a tree but Player 1 always knows where enemy 1 is thanks to mini-map now Enemy 1 is thinking F this because its pointless to fight a enemy that already know where you are !

Long story short it will make the game more boring !

I am kinda curious if it is possible to add monsters items (such as the Pseudodog Tail) to Traders (the first one in particular). This is coz the only pseudodog i could find did not have a tail after i had killed it. I tried around for quite some time, but the trader won't have it in his inventory if i follow the steps mentioned in the first post. I dont know any further...

Maybe you guys have any ideas how to get the trader to sell or how to get the Pseudodog Tail otherwise (without actually playing normally). I also wanted to try to edit the map to just place some more Pseudodogs in the first level, but as I'm under vista it wont work.

You can get it the dog enemy is those Muntant Looking Wolfs you can get that tail from them but the item is black so ITS VERY HARD TO SEE so when you check on just press the take all tab since you only get one tail or not I got 8 of them AND THATS INCULDING NOT USING A MOD !

OK. This may have been discussed before, but I've not found it.
I'm wanting only to edit two sections of the game
1. A weapon
2. Max Weight.

I know that there are mods out there, but I would like to try this myself.
To start, I extracted system.ltx, placed it into gamedata/config. Made no changes to the file, and there are no other files in the gamedata folder, just the system.ltx.
I then started a new single player game.
Apart from the trader, no other actors get loaded into the game.
The whole world is empty (apart from the trader).

What am I doing wrong?
Is there a minimal set of files that need to be extracted, or is the system.ltx incomplete (I compared the vanilla one to the one from Heros Mod and there was a whole section of actors at the end, to do with carrying stuff which is not in the vanilla system.ltx)

Any help/tips would be appreciated

I downloaded a map for weight increase and the mod include a creature folder so try finding a creature folder and add it in if you can .

I'm fairly new to STALKER, but I made a small mod for a unique weapon for something to do. Works well enough, but if you try to drop it or if the character dies while it is equipped (and drops the weapon) the game crashes instantly. Why is this? I've got the encyclopedia and traders entries right, and here's my modded weapon from unique_items:
