Need help in a Freeplay mod (Freeplay Start v1.21)

Okay, so, I wanna make this quick:

I mainly want a mod for stalker SoC that just has freeplay in mind. No extra weather/weapon/graphics mods on top of it. ONLY freeplay, sort of like in the Call of Chernobyl mod.

I have found an old link for Freeplay Start v1.21 and I see that it has AMK weather mod which I don't have a big issue with, but my problem is that with this mod there's a ton of invisible and inaudible anomalies around the game world. Like, every 5-10 meters or so.

Can someone explain to me if there's a way to delete these anomalies from the mod? I just want to have the original static visible and audible anomalies from the base game.

If you want to look at the files yourself, just ask me, and I'll try uploading the mod on mediafire and provide a link.

Welcome to the forum

You could just use NatVac's ZRP, you should be able to start the game with Freeplay. It is the Vanilla game, and has a ton of bug fixes, and The Zone Is Open feature .

Thank you for the warm welcome

Does ZRP freeplay offer you choosing a random name and faction? I think you start as Marked One regardless of freeplay or not, if I'm not mistaken.

welcome aboard:

it's been a number of years since I modded S.T.A.L.K.E.R., but it sounds like you've got some AMK anomalies in there, as well

now I don't know nothing 'bout Reddit, but supposedly they have a suggestion:

https://www.reddit.com/r/stalker/comments/u9tk1/regarding_invisible_anomalies/

as per what it says.

"go to gamedata/config/misc

find all the .ltx files with the "zone_" prefix to them such as "zone_buzz" or "zone_gravi" , these are the files for the various anomalies in the game

open each of these files and search for "idle_particles"

if there is a semicolon in front of idle_particles like this ";idle_particles", remove it

there you go, now those pesky anomalies are at least somewhat visible and won't instakill you without giving you a fighting chance to notice them beforehand, no more dying two steps away from Sidorovich's bunker"

else there is/was the mod O.F.F.L.I.F.E available, which I seem to recall having a lot of fun with a number of years ago:

https://gsc-game.com/index.php?t=community&s=forums&s_game_type=xr&thm_page=1&thm_id=21710&page=1&sort=DESC&sec_id=17

(if the link don't work, it should be available in the mod downloads section)

as per the information available there:

- Total freeplay
- Choose your faction, with different loadouts.
- All stuff is rebalanced
- Totally random spawns, you don't know what to expect
- Has a lot of similarities and additions from old builds
- Pretty much everything is different. You really don't know what to expect.

Comes with 2 versions! DESPAIR version is graphic-wise pretty much just like Misery mod for COP, and Oblivion Lost version totally captures the atmosphere of the old builds, it also has anomalies and sounds from builds too!

Thank you for showing me these and the welcome.

I've checked that mod you talked about and it might be worth a try, but I'd really rather keep my save and try to just remove those anomalies from my game.

I've also taken a look at your solution, and, well, at least the anomalies will be visible and I guess can try to make them audible too.

Yes, you are correct, ZRP does not allow you to choose factions, etc.
It is strict Vanilla game, with a lot of bugfixes.

You would have to edit the files manually to start as a different faction, and name.
However, starting as a Bandit, Merc, or Monolith would give some problems, since you start in the Cordon in the Rookie village, and would have to escape the village unharmed from the loners.

Could be fun though.
I have not tried starting with TZIO from the beginning, so I can't tell you at the top of my head if you can choose some equipment, and starting place.

if you want to change your name, you would want to edit stable_bio_name.xml, look up Marked One and change that to whatever name you wish, but if I recall correctly, I do believe you may have to start a new game, regardless - not 100% certain, however

(you would need to unpack the gamedata files and then you'd find that .xml in gamedata\config\text\eng\stable_bio_name.xml), depending (of course) on what language you are playing in

as for factions, I can't remember off of the top of my head, but I do believe that you would also need to alter the faction relations if I'm not mistaken...

Thanks guys, but I think I'm fine with Freeplay Start v1.21. I managed to make the anomalies visible AND audible!

Now my travels in The Zone will be much better

glad to hear - Shadow of Chernobyl is a unique experience in terms of immersion and although each entry in the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. -series has something unique to offer, I sincerely believe that the first one is the most unique, in terms of variation of areas, NPCs and immersion

good luck and feel free to ask if you have further questions, we try to be as helpful as possible on these forums and it's always fun to see new members joining in, whether they're experienced Stalkers, or new to the series

I have downloaded an earlier version of Freeplay Start (v1.2), and it has the answer to what I initially asked for. Regular vanilla anomalies spread very far out just like in normal game. I also managed to find and install Jamie 1992's faction wars into it and it works pretty well.

If anyone's interested in trying it out, I uploaded my gamedata folder to mediafire. Here's the link: http://www.mediafire.com/file/inb2ap3j6eywt59/file
