Thanks for the Diary, Tejas. You've (almost) convinced me to install LADC. A few things irk me though.
1. How come there's nothing on Dezowave site about 1.4007? The latest post on the English forum is from march 2018. Seems there's hardly any buzz at all about the DC. Not even on their own website.
2. Where would I even get 1.4007? (scratch that, found the moddb page)
The last I played was 1.3003 which was empty yet strangely enjoyable. Everything felt a bit off, the cars were weird and clunky, the A-life almost non existant, still it had me entertained for hours on end.
The only part that really bothered me were the weird changes to the main story that felt completely out of place and were badly presented.
Guess what I'm trying to ask is: Would you recommend it in it's current iteration? Have the above points been improved?
edit: found a torrent link on moddb with a rather decent 7.5 mb/s downloadspeed |

---QUOTATION--- Lost Alpha Director's Cut 1.4007: Tejas Stalker Diary
Byte Me:
Eventually I played ONE 1.4005 game.
Similarly, ONE 1.4006 'game' .
I played over a dozen 1.4002 distinct games.
Before that: over 30 instances of 1.3000 with around 80 'forks' just because it was FUN....
Can an 'old hand' like you clue me in to what I'm missing in the LA Zone.
Byte Me~
You know way more about Lost Alpha & Lost Alpha DC than I do.
My time as a Dez0wave tester was 2012 to 2014 right up to the leak and the rushed premature official release. I think I did 1.3001, 1.3002 and 1.3003 ( not sure if the nomenclature is accurate ) and after having to repeatedly start a new game hundreds of times, I was burned out. I decided to take a long break and let everyone else find the bugs.
I went back to unmodded SoC in 2015 and played a Game so slow, I intentionally let an entire year ( Game Time ) pass before I entered Pripyat one year after the Game started. From that Game, I took a break and decided to try the Call of Pripyat Mod. Little did I know I would be blown away by this Mod and exclusively play it from 2016 to 2018. I played 1.2, 1.3 and 1.4 as a Loner. Finally in my 1.4 experience, I tried other Factions. From being a Loner for 120 days ( Game Time ) I went to being Monolith for 90 days. Then as a Bandit for 90 days. Then as Clear Sky where that lasted about 60 days and I just took a break a few months ago. I haven't been playing anything until I caught wind of the LADC 1.4007 and decided to give it a try. So in retrospect, it's been over 4 years since I've been in Lost Alpha.
I've seen your posts here and on the Wiki. I'll be coming to you for help and advice.

Just a quick reply because my [https://lost-alpha.wikia.com/wiki/Sleeping_bag sleeping bag] appears to be on 'timer'..
Thank you for the kind words about the wiki. (Get yourself a declared account bud, I know you have contributed in the past..)
Or not.
We have several pages there that are right up your street:
[https://lost-alpha.wikia.com/wiki/Badlands Twilight Zones]
Gameboard workarounds - (NOT crummy exo run-hacks or godmode cheats) - but serious strategy tips - incredibly the [https://lost-alpha.wikia.com/wiki/Main_Mission_Strategy How I got to the NPP in 5 days] mostly still works.
If it didn't I would have given this up a long time ago.
As readers of my various blogs on the wiki may know:
...I really LIKED Lost Alpha....
..DC - not so much.
It had GREAT promise at 1.4002 - but then just seemed to lose "Direction"..
1.4005 was a freaking disaster in no trumps.
The reason for THAT was the destroyed economy. The shagged out weaponry (that had moments earlier been drilling YOU most effectively) but had a zero resale value 90% of the time, was another slap in the face from some basement devmonkey.
There's no easy way to sugar coat this. Nor should it be sugar coated.
LA rocked
DC boogied for a bit
DC devolved into a knife fight.
Personally, I don't mind slashing mutants to shreds with a knife. (v1.4005 to v1.4006 PRM DLC)
Saves ammo IMHO..
And the mutants of v1.4006/7 seem to be pussies compared to 1.3003 - but that's just an opinion.
I've been trying to get some clarity on all of this (and more) from the great Dezoder in the sky for the last two years. No luck yet.
Just for kudos value, since I have a near eidetic memory of the LADC anomalies, I thought it might be kewl to run around for five days WITHOUT the "Basic anomaly detector" that EVERY stalker starts out with.
"May the Zone take me if I lie" (I even had to buy my bloody knife)
Exploiting 1.4007 DC as best as I can. I will NEVER, EVER use a "cheat pack" - a game lives or dies on its gameboard. Best of luck, stalker...

I recommended NOT installing the "Extended Weather v0.20" and the "DC 14.005 Darker Nights v1.01". I added the "Free A-Life v1.03" to make it more unpredictable and exciting but there is a risk it could kill important people you need to meet so make plenty of Manual Saves.

Yeah, I read about those weather mods in your posts and didn't install them, I didn't install free A-life either since I like my fellow loners to stay alive . Might go with free A-live in a second playthrough.
I'm enjoying it so far and only replying here cause I got my first crash. I haven't ventured outside of Cordon, but so far it seems a much tighter experience.
Anyway, the monolith calls me, so gotta go. One last question though:
Do artifacts spawn after blowouts? |
