Nevermind, between Here and ModDB threads, It's the launcher someone stroked their dick over. Using -developer mode on a shortcut to XR_3DA.exe works fine. Latest Launcher ~Early Oct, No workee. Some Jackass at Dezowave is trying to control play style.

Like..
Instead of fixing plotline holes and moving crap around the board instead, someone just thought it kewl to kneecap the configurator so that no-one is let in at all?

Glad I can't use it.

**update**

In all the time that I have been monitoring ModDb threads - never once have I seen any upload that upgrades the "CONfigurator". If anyone can point me to an addon that my tired old eyes have missed - feel free.

This is a screenie of what my original and useless configurator has for version descriptors:

https://imgur.com/a/UdxxDGn

The company apparently, is "Lost Alpha", because Dez0wave want anonymity??

Various ModDb threads REFER to CONfigurator, but by its 1.0.13 handle rather than its BUILD designation....

Is this just a variation of the "Extended Pack mamba" that followed the hugely successful 1.4005 release? Or is it some secret club of webmonkies?

If it's the latter, I follow both the George Carlin AND Groucho Marx schools of thought regarding clubs.

It was actually in Steam Stalker Forum That I found link to ~Oct 7th? update of launcher that wouldn't crash on ONLINE startup. That updated launcher would not recognize the -developer mode key. Running ' Blah,Blah,Blah,"XR_3DA.exe" -developer mode' works perfectly fine.
So, Whatever ass licker they gave control of the launcher to, That's who to blame for their downfall.

Lost Alpha Director's Cut 1.4007: Tejas Stalker Diary

Did anyone try what I suggested? Remove your valuable Manual Saves ( before the trouble ) and set them aside. Re-install the Game to have a fresh copy ( this prevents the bad updates from being active ) and add the alternate copy of the Congifurator. Now before you launch the Game, block your internet access for your Computer OR individually block internet access to the Configurator. This prevents the bad updates being added to your new Game. Now add back your old Manual Saves ( the ones before the updates that were bad ) and I believe you should be able to continue.

I did all this and my Game restored itself to working and my Elite Detector worked again for several minutes UNTIL my Configurator accessed the internet and crashed me like before. This was BEFORE I realized I needed to block the internet access like I'm suggesting others do above. I haven't tested this yet but will soon.

OK, my misunderstanding. Glad your GAME launcher works as advertised...
As for the CONfigurator (that worked precisely ONCE for me in late 2018 and probably needs me to do registry surgery to ever see it again) I give you this poor quality nugget:

Where do these "updates" come from anyway?
Great way to piss off your remaining fane..

I had to, If I remember right, edit crap just to be able to install it in the beginning.. Fun Fun Fun..Just found Generator Arti in forest.. Whoever came up with that shit had Half-Life 2 stuck in their head..Dunno if a permanent spawn or not, but found it a second time on level changer reload, DV to Forest change, up hill to left, along fence to right to first plateau, and keep to right with detector out.

What's the Configurator you speak of?

I thought you and TS were referring to the Configurator which doesn't work at all for me.

The Generator arty serves no known storyline purpose as far as anyone has yet discovered. You get a trip around the lower parts of Forest and it stops after the damn thing is dropped (kicking YOU on to the next jump point so that you have to walk BACK to the last one to pick the thing up again)

Looks like a bloody Gravi in inventory. Been this way for four years. No story. No sidemission. Zip.

Doesn't the LA DC download set up everyone to use the Configurator?

As I mentioned, the one useful feature of the Generator artifact, and possible what it was designed for, allows the Player to grab it entering the Forest level in the far south and use it's jump feature to travel. It takes you to 4 places. 3 are all alongside the road after entering the level, but the 4th jump takes you to one of the Zombie Villages ( the farthest northern one I think ) which would be a huge advantage in time and safety if the Player could figure out the precise timing of that while dropping the artifact at the spot before it and then being able to stay there. However it's a one way jump.

Well done TS.

The "Mega Cherv" mod has a lot of "issues" that are still being unraveled (or are just broken)

OR - linear gameplay dev syndrome.. ... so what if:

When rescuing Paulie you're SUPPOSED to use the Generator arty to jump to Zombie Village, leaving the arty at its previous jump point which is somewhere south of a very "zoned out" - and highly suspiciously placed - stalker who sends you into the Mine on ANOTHER rescue mission (that isn't)...

The corollary for this is that this would imply that you are "expected" to enter Forest from Dolina. But you don't because Bar --> Forest is always open and muuuuch easier to navigate.

After "dropping in" at ZV, probably into the thick of the Zombifieds, you're supposed to rescue this twit and fight your way back to Music Village where he clues you in that his partner screwed him over. At which point he goes to "inspect his stash" and the mission that Seriy gave you technically ends.

The subsequent task is to "Leave the Forest" and 999 times out of 1000 - you immediately meet up again and head for the Duty Checkpoint.

What if you leave him by his "stash"? (he won't go anywhere and he's immortal by all accounts)

And permute any of the following to see if a hidden infoportion is poorly coded:

1) Reclaim the Generator since you know where it is. Or not.
2) Meet the "zoned out" guy and do his mission (or ignore it and effectively FAIL the documents thread if you took it)
3) Question Paulie again after while he's still by his stash...
4) Report to Seriy.
5) Don't meet with "zoned out" - but this lets the DThread complete but maybe doesn't explain WHY this twerp was on the map anyway...

Any other ideas from anyone?
Too much coincidence and too little 'joined-up play' here imo.

Backtracked through saves to Garbage where had just accepted
mission. Map pointers direct you north through Metal factory. I went east past Zombie dump to DV, ran the fence to Forest. As soon as entered forest, got the cry for help (think you have to travel a bit south to get this entering from the north in forest). Looking at map, Generator is on just about a straight line path from the southern changer to the cry for help area. It's also lit up nice and twinkly, so you don't miss it, even if you don't have your detector out. Imma gonna go try to land in the ZV.

Ok, Picked it up, opened map, teleport between original pickup, then almost directly south of road with some easterly thrown in, jump 2 is the fall, which is north east of pickup, #3 puts you in village which is target of Paulie mission. Dropped generator at Fall Point, stuck there, and picking it up again did nothing..Seems to be first pick up triggers, and after dropping, nothing.
