---QUOTATION--- Lost Alpha Director's Cut 1.4007: Tejas Stalker Diary
Bandit Diversions: Yantar ( Part 13 ) Conclusion
I love finding the little details you would never see without some serious exploring....Like this skeleton of a poor soul on top of some buildings in Rostok Factory.
Well it's been a lot of fun writing and sharing my story. I hope everyone has enjoyed it. I've delayed long enough going back to the Bandit Base in the Dark Valley and talking to the drunk to initiate the events that follow.
Unfortunately the last forced LA Configurator upgrade for the Weapons Pack seemed to have broken my Elite Anomaly detector. It no longer shows me the location of anomalies on the Mini-Map. Kind of took the enthusiasm out of my Game to lose this feature. Hopefully there is a fix soon.
TS ---END QUOTATION---
Just beyond the gate entrance to the factory, a little further on and to the west of where the first bloodsucker encounter takes place. There's a ladder leading up to a deck above the buildings front doors. Don't know who or what fling that part of the poor guy up there, or where the rest of'm might be, but there lies most of...? On the up side, except for the crows, place can't get a lot of ancillary traffic. Sorta like a Tibetan Sky Burial.
Sorry 'bout your detector, that truly suks, but all things come to those who are patient. Or at least what's left over after those that hustle move through. Some stove pipe filing cabinet guy said that way back before the day. The Dev's try to break our will by throwing gulag class heartbreakers under our feet. You waltz into an area all cocky and ready to rock with freshly repaired gear only to find out you're soup du jour and every critters gotta have a spoonful. Like the one a few versions ago where the Controllers range could cover the entire area you were in, but of course this isn't discovered this until first coming into their range.
Though not applicable to your situation, found upgrading mods mid-game to come with negative (run/game breaking) side effects. Since then follow the rule to set the mods when beginning a new run through and not alter them until completing the run.
PS: luv the new posting style with the added images. |

Development cycle 2
Then there's this:
The first release of LADC that was playable was 1.4002.
It had some serious issues to fault it and enough were posted on these fora (mostly by S.C.A.R.) but the players found workarounds and exploits and chatted them over and things like :-
1) Nimble "wallhumping" could be fixed by exterminating nearby mutants.
2) Nimble "going on patrol" and expiring in a random Blowout wasn't fixable.
(Why he wasn't just "immortalized" is a question I can't answer...)
3) The Expedition never completed properly. But could be made to - with a little "extreme prejudice".
4) The Yantar documents NEVER finished. It does now, be happy.
5) Find a friend of Seriy worked as well as it does now.
6) Find a friend (of the Country Major) ALMOST worked..
On the plus side, 1.4002 had some useful exploits :-
1) Although the LA Tools kit was flaky and the Spawn menu maybe not available, if you had certain body parts and a point on your Barter skill, you could play "Pass the poltergeist brain" with Sid during a blowout.
2) The Bandit Sniper was good for a scope and a rifle.
3) In fact, looted rifles were mostly in good shape...
4) Nimble could be coaxed to reward you with 18000 Ru ad infinitum.
5) Many items sold to NPCs for full whack.
Moving on to v1.4005..
Downers:
1) Artifacts devoid of bulletproofing.
2) Hardcore economy hardwired. <<-- THIS is where it lost half of its fane.
3) Insta-trashed ordnance. Big, BIG no-no. <<-- Another 25% here..
3) Miserable experience. <<-- Most of the rest exeunt stage left.
4) Paulie the Stew is still hanging out near the Dolg on Forest. Looks like a bus will never arrive.
Upsides:
1) Muh Vintar "shoots straight-ish"
2) **Insert fluff piece here**
Moving on to v1.4007.....
Downers:
0) The fault reporting mechanism for LADC is either "faulty", misconfigured or non-existent.
Cue https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Machine_Stops for our SF aficionados.
1) Vehicles (they were good, they didn't need "fixing", now they're shit. My grandmother could carry more shopping than these heaps.)
2) Artifacts - completely revamped - too confusing.
2a) Artifacts - too rare - too random - too non-canon - too unavailable.
2b) Artifacts - there are MOAR? FFS why? Wasn't 58 enough?
3) Basic equipment. No anomaly det, no Knife? Again WTF?
4) Bandit sniper - with a shotgun??
5) Find a friend (of the Country Major) JUst doesn't exist.
6) Paulie the Stewpid is still hanging out near the Dolg on Forest. Looks like forever.
Uppers:
1) Toolkits and Upgrade BS - The level running is killing me too often from laughing /sarc
2) Artifacts! - if you ever get your head around this non-canon smorgasbord you might get it to WORK for you. Trouble is, all the hardcore fans have left..
So what are we left with?
A long term project success?
Or one that lost (sic) its way?
Exploiting 1.4007 DC as best as I can. I will NEVER, EVER use a "cheat pack" - a game lives or dies on its gameboard. Best of luck, stalker...

burns & itches
---QUOTATION--- Lost Alpha Director's Cut 1.4007: Tejas Stalker Diary
I don't know what's going on with my Game anymore.
The Configurator constantly crashes. Get some new message about it being unstable.
TS ---END QUOTATION---
...feeling the burn. Re-worked the systems swap file due to an oddity not related to the game and this message began popping up every time the configurator loads: https://imgur.com/UbBSQKg
Am able to ignore it, load saves and play but the rub is: Is it a sign of a lurking future failure that'll force a full restart. At this point have no way of knowing whether it's coincidental, directly related or incidental to the changes made.
Made the mistake of not addressing it immediately, as such do not have each of the log files saved. The '\appdata\logs\configurator_xps.log' file appears to be overwritten on each error. Have begun archiving both it and the corresponding '\appdata\logs\xray_xps.log' file in hope of being able to understand the information they contain.
The 'configurator_xps.log' file appears to be a Save file analyzer going through each of them but not in chronological order. 2000+ lines long.
The 'xray_xps.log' file tracks the systems hardware information, then game specific components. Going to need to see several copies of it before an inkling of an idea can be germinated as to what it may impart. 1300+ lines long.
The 'burn' mentioned above is because of the time, energy and effort required to create and play the game in a satisfying manner. Understand and appreciate Byte Me's stance of playing the game cleanly. Good argument can be made for playing it un-modded, but then you end up dealing with the games bugs. Topping it off, doesn't the configurator come with some built in mods that correct certain 'fixes'?
Think players who actually alter the games ini files are attempting brain surgery using a marlin spike. Not enough of them post here to get a read on their success/failure rate. The posts read may be one-offs but it's a facet of little interest so it's not been monitored.
