Cumulative Mod JP-2.1

The successor to Narodnaya Solyanka Cumulative Pack 2 is nearing completion ... a lot of work has gone on in adding many new maps, improving the speed and reliability and tweaking the old X-Ray engine.

The biggest barrier to good playabilty for Cumulative Pack 2 was the poor and incomplete English translation.

I have received an email from someone (who was referred to me by the lead developer of JP-1, JP-2 and others) saying that there was interest in developing an English version for JP-2.1. I am trying to find out more about this atm.

Nice to see you back Playdough. That's really good to hear that someone might be interested in doing a translation. If any mod deserves one it's these series of mods. I know it is a huge undertaking which is best done with a team of modders.

The question is I saw on Reddit awhile back saying this edition would add a lot more maps and 500 more hours of content. Although the engine limitations have become an issue. Do you know anything about this?

I had a brief chat with a member of the team working on the translation for 2.1. I was told there was 5 or 6 people working on it and that it will take a number of months. The member personally will work on it until completion or if life events prevent him.

I'm really waiting for C.P. 2.1 . I think it will take like 2 months or so. I noticed Proper70 was searching for testers.
Since then,i'll play Stalkersoup ( after six years of development, it still has a lot of google-translated text).

It will be great if the Russians are doing an English translation for CP2.1,it will help a lot and attract more players,i think.

I cant seem to scratch my head enough in confusion that they do so much work, and a really really nice work in an old Engine.
Initiative for 64bit exists but for open X-ray, when it will be done no one knows but there is still posibility.
I cant seem to understand why they push so much that old engine instead of using open x-ray or at least port mod to a COP engine.
There is obvious reason that there is no NS mod ported to COP engine because it is no small task at all I understand.
But still such big and good mod on such outdated engine seems kinda strange because time for polishing the shoc engine to take on such big mod could be focused on doing a port to COP engine plus you maybe get opportunity to even make it 64bit in a future and make optimisations even easier.
Just my tought on development path they choose, they still made masterpiece with such engine for shoc.

It's not just "no small task", it would be a mind-bogglingly huge one. Animations would have to be completely remade for any weapons with the SoC rigging, many script features are changed or missing in CoP, model, level, and spawn formats are different. You would practically be starting over from scratch, except worse since you also have to recreate the entirety of SoC first. Might as well just make a new mod.

Plus, some people prefer SoC's engine anyways.

Summarizing what I have read in a recent post on their forum. It's mostly work on optimizing the engine and fixing bugs. They are also working on connecting the new maps and populating them, including adding some key NPCs which will be used as future quest givers. Some graphical improvements, mainly textures but not too much where it will be unfair for players with less powerful rigs. A HD graphics pack might be released after. One of the prime goals is to make it easier for future modders to make a further version or install add-ons.

I believe some new weapons in each category. One of new shotguns you will use in the cave part in the beginning if I understand the translation properly.

Devs just posted some screen shots of some new features and maps. The new weathers and skyboxes are very nice and were a much needed upgrade. They claim they will release an "HD graphics" mod package after the release which is great because compared to other mods this one really lags behind graphically.

Most interesting is the addition of cyclic quests that will allow you to earn supplies to help offset when you exhaust the purchases from the traders.

Finally,CP 2.1 is out.

I just installed it but it's in Russian. There's an option in the installer to use English, but the game is still in Russian. I asked about it on the russian site,hopefully i'll get an answer.

Yes, work in progress 35-40%. But they are only 2/4 translators atm, so it will take some time `). I'm still @ holidays for 2 weeks and my laptop sucks, so i can't play atm. Will immediately start playing when im back home though! N-JoY 2.1

The game is stable so far,not a single crash. I disabled the ''old zone'' feature,i didn't like it.
There's some cheat options in the menu , like ''superjump'' , ''invulnerability for a while'' and '' tag on Collector stashes'' ( this one is tempting).

I'm wondering if the selection of language determines which language the voice overs are, currently it's in English while in JP-2 it was Russian. Trying to figure out how to switch to Russian.

I run the game with english choice,some voices are also in english.

Problems

Anyone else having this problem,start game o.k but on entering the cave the hud disappears and the game will not hard or quick save,played through to end of cave but when you appear in cordon I still have no hud.It will not install from the options menu and still no saves outside of cave is this a bug as nothing comes up in the log,i have uninstalled the game after trying 4 times to get past this but with a new install it is still happening,can anyone help?

It seems according to the chosen hud this problem appears.
While waiting for the correction of this trouble,it's advisable
to press the + key on the numeric keypad to make the hud reappear,then save and reload. It will be ok,I try it for Seraphin and Modern huds.

In low level in cave you have no damage.

I'm amazed by the speed of the loads, the fluidity of the game thoroughly it's impressive I remember before that was far from the case.

Yes,the mos is protected, like CP2 . But they provided some cheats in the menu and, after playing it for few in-game days , i think i know why they did it. It can be very,very difficult sometimes.
Being stuck in a building, with 7-8 overpowered hostile NPCs outside can be very frustrating. This was a surprise added to a mission, after i thought i finished it.
Also,in another location i had a surprise encounter - a librarian. The thing was never there and i think is too much for that moment in the game.
I'm having trouble trying to get used to the new system of stashes. I mean, instead of icons you have a wall of text saying what and how many things you stashed.
I'm impressed by the game stability,i must say. I had only one crash,while speaking with Mole and the replay solved it.
Now i'm trying to reach Kruglov in Wild Territory,but the mercs keep killing him.

I couldn't wait, so i'm playing the game as it is. The objectives are in English but most of the tasks descriptions are in Russian, so the translation is much needed,even a machine one ( playdough,if you read this - help! ).
There's lots of changes affecting the gameplay . So far i found gauss turrets and minigun turrets and I really hope there's no grenade-launcher turrets somewhere. Opponents are tough, they throw smoke grenades and flashbangs and, if someone is aiming you with a grenade launcher, there's a red circle with a cross pointed at you on the minimap. And you have like two seconds to run or receive the grenade and hope to survive.
There's new mutants, like biomass, mosquitos , flying rats and i think i saw a new dog and chimera.
The exoskeletons needs batteries or you can't run. Sakharov sells them and you can recharge the batteries at some traders.
Lots of new weapons , ammo types, knives and suits. New missions, in both old and new maps, cyclic tasks ( you can see the reward and choose what to do).
Some of the old missions are changed ( thermoses for Voronin are scattered in three or four maps , gauss pistol for Petrenko is much more difficult to obtain...).

That sounds OK. I haven't started doing any translations yet, I've been too busy editing their bad translations, but yeah, some help is always appreciated.

If I understand correctly, future patches the OP team releases will contain whatever additional translations they may have done. Idk if that would conflict in any way with the ones you plan on doing. Ringer77 (who posted in the other thread) is part of that translation team.

How did you get the game to run the gamedata folder. I translated the text at the beginning of the game, but it doesn't appear when first you meet Astrologer and speak to him. It's still in Russian. Language is set to English.

Any ideas?

Solved the problem. It's the new patch. If you install the new "bin" folder, the game won't access the "gamedata" folder. If you install the patch only, you lose access to the options menu. Sounds like they don't want anyone to tamper with their files. Makes it difficult to edit and finish their translations.

Yes at the moment the authors lock the game well...

This can be understood in the sense that I think they want to see and fix errors without the players who are testers using the many changes that everyone installs a little to go quickly and complain of errors afterwards.

I especially hope that pass a deadline they will put back all the orders deleted and unusable in the current state as modified in the same engine of the game.
(Many commands in the console very useful are now inaccessible, hope that they come back later).

Yes, even for translation files I have tried many possibilities to introduce in the main menu the option in French(the little fra) .
It's ok for menu but even adding the new <fra> tags in the files ,I can't have the correct text frawith accents.
I think I have tested everything methodically (place of the directory fra, text, tags _west, _cent, european fonts ...) nothing is done there...

The only possibility for me at the moment being to choose the Russian language in the menu and then translate the files under the Russian tags.
But as I would like to keep the 3 translations Rus Eng and Fra ,so I replace Ukrainian with Russian (sorry for Ukrainian friends ...)

It's a bit of "bricolage" ... but it works !

I installed the spawns menus just to test the translation files on all the objects but of course the translation will only be done with the official files and fix.
Then free to everyone to change his game as he sees fit.

And then there will certainly be many fix and so I think it will be necessary to regularly adapt the files.
The positive thing is that they incorporate some great modifications of the community like the ogse files as for the shots through the materials.

The mod is really extraordinary of remarkable fluidity, ridiculous load times when I remember the old NS or DMX mods the optimization work that has been done is remarkable
Really congratulations to all the creators of this latest version!

And that's what decided me to invest myself to translate this game because it's really such a pleasure to travel the Zone as well now.
And with more sacred too, I find SuperSaut is a must!
No more time to lose half an hour for almost impossible jumps and become crazy!

But we are still very far from having finished the files and so for now the goal is to get to have already all the files in my language in French what is done with the help of three friends.

Have you seen the number of lines of "titanic" files
That's why on some files that we can exchange if you wish.
We could compare and help each other for some texts!
I remember the treat ,the joy that I had to play with your translations Grunter Hunter in English on mods that was only the Russian existed!

Sorry ,I don't understand?
No,because there is no need here to play with it as I manage to display well accent with the new system languages.ltx :

I have done some translations from Russian to English in the <eng> part of the dialogue for dialog_arhara.xlm where Strelok first meets the Astrologer in Cordon. I have set second line of fsgame.ltx to all true (so that gamedata overrides what is in the .db files). I have set language in the main menu to English. I have the part translated dialog_arhara.xlm file in the gamedata\config\text folder.

Yes I have the first patch installed.

When I run the game the first dialogue line with Astrologer still comes up as Russian text.

What do I need to change?

I tried to translate some of the dialog_arhara.xlm text file for Cordon but could not get it to be recognised.

Have you got the first patch installed?

I have done some translations from Russian to English in the <eng> part of the dialogue for dialog_arhara.xlm where Strelok first meets the Astrologer in Cordon. I have set second line of fsgame.ltx to all true (so that gamedata overrides what is in the .db files). I have set language in the main menu to English. I have the part translated dialog_arhara.xlm file in the gamedata\config\text folder.

Yes I have the first patch installed.

When I run the game the first dialogue line with Astrologer still comes up as Russian text.

What do I need to change?

Save the gamedata_unpack somewhere, you may need it later.

Uninstall and reinstall the game without the patch and run the unpacker again.

Now you can use the gamedata folder. Read my previous post on page six of this thread.

All translation work has been "put on hold" for the time being. The developers will be doing some work on the game engine involving translation mechanics. Not sure what that means.

Translation and Comments

Trying to play a bit when I have time but find there is still so much translation that has to be done. Most is trial and error approach.

If there was a packer that worked with this code we could create a dbz file - I am assuming that the "Developer mode" won't pick up on that but I could be wrong.

Found two instances where you make enemies - 2.1 is very sensitive to this.
1. In army warehouses if you kill or wound any of Skull's men Duty becomes your enemy. Best to let Freedom do the job
2. This is a weird one. After the Defence of Bar (even if you don't kill any of the Mercs) at some point after you've been back to Bar for some reason Sid wants you to pay 250,000 to smooth relations with some faction (translation says it's Freedom). This doesn't make sense because Freedom, Duty etc. are not hostile (other than Army, Bandits, Mercs, Monoliths). I asked this question on stalker-worlds.ru but have received no reply.

This game is hard - especially the abundance of tough Mercs, and the AI of enemies seems to have been upped a notch.

Watch where you put stashes -anywhere close to traffic and they'll get looted and it costs a fortune to get things back

That explains why it was not available in the initial visit to the cave. I figured it was just moved somewhere else. Although i never played the quest, (have heard it was one of the most brutal of the whole game) kinda disappointed they would remove it because of it being too hard or something. I'm sure they made up for anything they removed with new stuff

Really looking forward to playing but waiting on a proper translation.

Those microcircuits are still in the game,i have three already. It seems it will be a job involving them later in the game. Here's what the developers said , on the Russian forum:

''The plot on chips for Hamster will be available later, with the first plot entry into the Cave. Chips are no longer 22, but exactly 20. These tasks are no longer displayed in the quest section of the PDA, but moved to the Journal / Orders section. The game will not constantly calculate the necessary items, so you can safely take these tasks.''

After playing some days, the mod is good, some quest still need translation but many are translated. The only problem i have is that i cant write in save game slot like other people that posted here and the hard one is that i cant see the NPCs names, they are all named like N´lnÑ'3 or names like that. Is there a mod to fix NPC names?, because i think i saw one but for 2.0.

Im playing in easy mode since i dont want to spend much time doing all again, so my question is if changing later the difficulty in options will also affect the game.

Also i saw the caches have an object limit with is good and bad at same time, i had a bag in the bar with like 50 or 100 guns and others with many artifacts and ammo, now i will need 50 bags instead of 4 .

help

trying to do the Tricky Stash quest which is find map hidden by clear sky scout near southern watch tower in the swamps to give to guide,i have spent hours looking around this area but cannot find it anywhere so if anyone can help i would be grateful. enjoying this mod but it is very hard even on the easy mode and the lack of ammo makes it even harder, what happened to getting ammo from dropped guns?

In a sack above the sack barrier near the tower. I just did the quest yesterday.

translation

any news on the translation as nothing seems to be happening,is it still being done? i do not understand why the translations already done for JP 1 and OP 2 could not have been used as they worked fine and that would have left only the new content to translate thus speeding the process up. if the makers would open up the files then amatuers like myself could try and help,they say that they will not open them as they want us to play the game as they intended but all that is happening to me is that i am not playing the game at all because of the translation and am having to wait until it is done.

You'll get an invite to the server. Translation is around 80% done but many translators have gone totally AWOL.

As one of the translators, I can definitely say that no one has gone AWOL.
I think that most of them have just lost their motivation for some reason, but they are still there. 80% sounds about right as there's still 11 files unfinished on the "In Progress" list. Most of them have not moved since I joined the team back in January.

I apologize, I was told by someone in the translation team that members are either going AWOL or just dead silent. Glad to know that they're not gone. I had no idea you were in the translation server, nice to see that you're on board.

Not your fault if someone gave you misinformation. I think they were referring to a team member who briefly left because of a medical condition, but has since returned.

OP 2.1 MicroFreezes Fix

Do you have constant microfreezes in OP 2.1 even at 100 FPS? Such as in here?

I found a fix for it and it worked for me. So if someone has such a problem, here is the fix, it took me some time to get it together thanks to some info from russian forums.

Tell me if it worked for you, because it removed the constant microfreezes at high FPS (other than the usual stalker freezes) for me and for russian users.

Now the english speaking community can have this too.

One more thing. I just asked in the OP 2.1 site and they don't want the mod to be played with custom user edits. So there will be no technical support from OP 2.1 team due to user edits in the game files.

Tried opening the file using 7-Zip but that was not possible.
Any chance you can upload it as a WinZip or 7-Zip file? (7-Zip is freeware)

No, never had micro stutter/freezes in the any stalker game/mod. When I am bored I just have a habit of checking files people upload in their posts. Both because I'm a bit curious and because it's a shame if someone uploads a file and those in need can't open it. In the latter case I try to make the uploader aware of the problem.
