The images list a good number amount of mis-information. Specifically about the gateways/portals that can't be navigated.

Such as: The NE route from Yantar to the GMF can be accessed using the route through the debris field south of the high walled compound.

garbage to rostok factory (entry from the bar)

Doable route from garbage to rostok factory (entry from the bar) pass before first bridge from the right into the water and after second bridge exit to the landfill then connect to the purple line

You can drive from Bar to Yantar. Just need a UAZ to cross the train track, then park sideway against the gate and move a bit till you find the spot that triggers the level changer. From there you can also move to Dead City and back.

Yeah, I've restarted again to. So it's all academic at the moment. When you mention "...there are topics already for that", I'm sure there are but it would be nice if there was a central clearing house for that information. I don't read these forums religiously, and if I was to try to dig up that information I should get a doctorate in research. The search feature for this forum does not work for me. I use IE11 if that makes a difference.

Also, there has been a lot of discussion about how the Gamedata folder is no longer available for use with the new patch, but it sounds like it can be extracted using a db extraction tool. Maybe a sticky could be posted on how to extract db files, as it seems hit and miss.

I tried the solution you describe when I received the task to move to Pripyat Outskirts. I encountered a problem: I paid the Monolith dude, and I began driving around to the Outskirts exit. I was driving my white NIVA, which appeared to be unable to climb the road at a precise point: the curve east of the Monolith base. It is to steep for such a car.
The Moskvich can handle it, but at that point of my playthrough, I was using a NIVA as my mobile stash. I had to go backwards and try the Swamps => Pripyat Outskirts solution that finally worked, after lots of tries and massive keyboard bashing.

As I'm using a Moskvich now, and as I don't drive around that much, I never tried the Swamp => Pripyat Outskirts with such a car; the result might be different. It should work too, logically: the NIVA failed at climbing the Radar curve, but it succeeded in the Swamps. So the Moskvich should be fine there too.



EDIT

Some other thing: it is possible to make Great Metal Factory => Yantar: drive through the train tracks (can be tough), and then head to the level changer: do a maneuver, to park the car along the grid, with the driver being as close to the grid as possible: you will then be invited to change level.
And once in Yantar, going to the left before the high walls, heading to the small house just south of it, will give you access to the main road that circles around the map.

So Great Metal Factory <==> Yantar can be done in both directions

Radar is unlocked at the dead city north road.

Its easier to drive from the north road of Dead City, to Radar and then to Pripyat Outskirt. You don't have to use the Swamp to Pripyat Outskirt road like the storyline suggests.

You have enough time to make it through Radar with the car before getting the mask to stop the PSY effects since the road between Dead City and Pripyat Outskirt is in the southwest corner of Radar

just be sure to have $5000 ready to give to the monolith when ya do this. You have to pay them at the Dead City to Radar transition anyway. Many players wonder why the Monolith become hostile when walking from Pripyat Outskirt to Radar and thats why they become hostile is because they miss that.

Yeah, those are called "Jerrycans". a term left over from WWII. I figured they where the only source of fuel for vehicles, as they are small and efficient.

I saved those and put them in my storage shed...see pic below.

Only the small square brownish/green cans will work on vehicles as far as I know, I don't think the others will? I havn't tried it. The red ones are meant for killing enemys near them due to exploding them with gun fire. The white round hazzard symbol ones I think are mission specific, not sure what they go to.

There is a usable car at each end of Countryside. Unfortunately for me I used one when arriving at Countryside and got rescued. That car simply will not move though it has lots of gasoline. The other I drove to a spot off the road and for some reason it also will not move though it also has lots of gasoline.

Made an update to the Yantar and Dead City maps

during my original testing I didn't think I could get from yantar to dead city transition because of the pipeline and trenches in yantar but I found out that thier is a bridge behind the bunker fence to drive over, so I was able to make it just fine. This will cut down on fuel usage on the later maps, I thought army warehouse was the only way I could get a vehicle to the northern maps but this solves that

Again I used the 4 door white sedan with yellow top, its my vehicle of choice cause its great offroad and doesn't have the issues that other vehicles had (like the bumper/wheel falling off the jeep which kills refuel, trunk, repair, and hatch falling off the niva which kills refuel, trunk, repair, also both are underpowered at climbing hills)

Yes, 3rd person is the only way to drive it. I was not aware that
the gun is now functioning. All other mods I used, it did not do so.

see out of it in first person and the gun is non-functioning. I favor the
UAZ-469 the most. It's the right size and performs the best all around:

The BTR-70 is overrated. It doesn't have the power it should, you can't
see out of it in first person and the gun is non-functioning. I favor the
UAZ-469 the most. It's the right size and performs the best all around:

speaking of transitions, is it possible you can add PDA message updates when maps are unlocked?

It be better then having to check each transition on your own as you make progress

I'm up to 'Speak to Voronin' in Pripyat Outskirts. I went back to find a few tasks I'd missed and picked up the music one from Kruglov. The Bar to Forest transition was open, so whatever the trigger is to open it, it is before 'Speak to Voronin'.

Thanks Nite. Will be searching later.

Also the transition between Bar and Forest doesn't work...I got wood felling in progress and it ejected me out of the car lol and the car kept going....good job you can glitch out of the map and recover the car... lol...

Does it work after a certain quest is complete?. I currently have the quest for the song sheets and psi helmet prototype.

I thought about doing that for all the maps but the second patch is going to add more fuel cans to stashes and traders according to the 13002 changelog, I can't edit the original post of the thread anymore anyway, you are locked out of editing posts on GSC forum after so many days.

Currently right now though on forest map, look in the building Northeast of the southern warning icon (3 fuel cans are located thier) and thier is vilage a bit northeast of that building (can't be seen on map cause of the trees) 1 fuel can is thier.

offroad/dirt path, same thing lol, as for the dirt road that goes over the canal, I didn't bother adding that, cause the canal part is not complete you could just drop in to it. As for the steep hill on the radar the 4 door white sedan with the yellow top made it up fine.

and funny screenshot, I had my share of anomolies throwing me around in vehicles

what I really wish I could do is drive the BTR to other maps... but no way to repair it or refuel it, its sitting lonely at the generator / npp transition where I parked it (with just a tiny bit of fuel left)

Thats why I used Dark Valley as a route to get around it, Yes its possible but like ya said not easy.

DV has 3 jerry cans just to the left of the Monolith base middle entrance. Garbage and Bar have non that I have seen though the Traders will reportedly sell them more frequently once the next patch (dear god its taking time) is released. Fuel barrels do nothing for vehicles as far as I can see only jerry cans.

I decided to do a vehicle path guide for all maps, I marked all the routes that you can take or not take for the most part. Most of the maps are really simple with no problems at all, only a select few were limited. Anyway I hope this helps

My only Gripe out of all these paths is Dead City to Yantar has no road, that would cut down on lots of travel.... unfortunately agroprom > construction site > yantar is the only way to get to yantar with a vehicle. The Rest of the paths are decent.

Blue Line = Asphalt Road and can be driven on

Brown Line = Have to take a offroad path.

Red Line = Dead End

Red X = transition leads to dead end or can't use that transition at all

Green Checkmark = can access that transition

Yellow Warning = Heavy with anomolies or near a Burer Mutant which will cause your vehicle to fly outta control so becareful.

Its hard to get over the railroad tracks though and the opening under the construction building it too small to drive through.

I will give it another try though, if I can confirm it I will fix the metal factory image.

when I was testing all these paths for this guide I only used about 3 fuel cans (using the 4 door white sedan with yellow top which can be found on Darkscape and Countryside)
