I'm getting killed in the cave, maybe cause I'm playing master/extreme. The rush of new spawns and the delay for using your weapon after using a medkit has increased the difficulty a lot.

Started Collector - yes. Also Major Kuznetsov has many quests, including cache hunt .... so do not upset him.

actor.ltx is in db7 ... but yes don't try to cheat.

As I play I look for bad English machine translation and will try to clean up as I go. Also have to try translate some of the script files. When I have a little more I will post another translation ... bit by bit. It will be crude ... not like the more polished jobs other translators do ... but hopefully playable.

Also, be careful, your caches/stashes get robbed.

When I read what you wrote about major kuznetsov I started a new game as koysta had killed him on my first playthrough,however I find that every time I approach the bridge they all open fire and kill me,i tried the start of the collector thinking that you had to do this to make him friendly but he still opens fire,i have killed no soldiers as this is right at the start so what is going on and how did you get him to give you quests?

And yes,it is a taste of things to come. Now i'm in agro under,trying to find another stash with 6 possible locations.This one should be easier,agro under is not that big.

just follow playdoughs excellent instructions on page 5 of this forum just remember to take the sub folder stalker out and use it to replace the original stalker db files,hope this helps

I think you should start again.It's annoying,i know,but Kuznetsov it's really important now for the plot. He has lots of quests,and i read on a russian forum that,without him,the game can't be finished.
Just keep trying till he's not shooting at you.
I'm saving the game every time i speak with him,just in case.

This cave scenario is set up differently from previous NS mods. It is merely a bit of a playground for you ... you can't be killed. The main objective is to get a job from the miner about microcircuits. He then gives you a drink, which when you take, it, tranports you back to Rookie Village - minus everything. You can now go and see Sid and start off from scratch.

Best to upload my translation from previous post (V2.11) before you continue .... it's far from complete or perfect but better than the last version V2.1

I think I have a glitch. I talked to him and I got the mission but I'm not teleporting in Cordon.

Ps. You said I can not be killed, I disagree with you.
My game is set on the realism level and I've been killed many times (~15) before to get to the miner.

So dear stalkers, for the second time please upload if you can a save after the cave .

Hints & Possible Explanations

The Options Menu for Gaming has changed - note additional parameters .... automatic difficulty, hardcore options. Seems you can also option to buy quests (expensive).

Cave
- Suspect that the level of mortality is related to your difficulty setting .... eg. novice level might be immortal.This allows you to go through the cave sequence easily or make it very hard ... your choice.
- Make sure you put on suit and all artifacts for protection.
- The trick is to get to the Miner is quickly as possible .... run through if you can. Once you have reached him you are pretty safe from the mutants. You can then get his task, the drink and return to begin the game proper.
- The previous option to explore the upper level of the cave is turned off for this first cave-run ... when you try to escalate the wall where the ore trolley is you get teleported back to your starting point in the cave.
- You lose every item on you when you take the drink to return to Rookie Village.

Mortality of Key NPCs
- It seems no-one is immune from death (not positively sure though) ... even key NPCs. If you have an outstanding task with an NPC and he/she? is killed you will immdiately be notified. This means you have the additional task of protecting your "clients" as well ... nerve-racking!!

Major Kuznetsov
Seems to now be a key character with many quests - including a cache hunt (with hints given as reward for completing tasks .. I think, not sure yet)
- The trick is to keep "friendly" with him. This means only ever approach him from the south side of the railway bridge.
- If you want to cross over the railway bridge either pay your toll (bottle of vodka) or use the tunnel with the electro anomalies ... just make sure you are not observed by him or his military escort crossing back and forth.
- You may also have to protect him from his enemies if he is threatened ... I had to kill a couple of stalkers (unobserved) that had killed Kuznetsov in a previous save.

@jugulator is correct ... saving often around key NPCs (when everything is ok) is probably a good idea.
