Shadow of Chernobyl - Patch 1.0005|
How can u spend soo mich time in Cordon, and that in Vanilla Game?
Do you Play the same quests again and again?and how can u go to Place
1 in Rankings, i once made an Experiment i made all available quests
there once and after that i killed every Single npc and still was gar away
from top 100..Anyways for me vanilla Cordon gets boring so fast..theres
only Little Action..Dont get me wrong Stalker is far away the Game I
Player most,i Play it since it came out and sure spent more than 1000
reallife hours in the Zone, but Cordon already bored me on my First
playtrough..Its different in Mode like The NS or OL but even there i
dont spend more then 2-3hours until i want deeper into the zone
Yes, there is a certain amount of repetition and effort to do the same
things again and again. The Military does not respawn until once I leave
the Cordon. The Loners do not yet populate the Pig Farm. The Cordon
later in the Game has more to do and is more exciting. But all this time
is not about reaching a score or the rank of #1. My time spent here is the
foundation for making the entire Game a better experience. Here's how:
(1) Activating Purple Icon Stashes in the Cordon and levels ahead. This is
the most important as the items it gives me are valuable and unique. In
the level I am in to use and in the future. Now when I enter Garbage, go
to Rostok and Dark Valley I will have supplies to sustain my operations.
I don't have to carry a lot in. I don't have to leave the level to go back
to get food or ammo in the middle of the Game Play. Most importantly
when I activate new Stashes through my action in those levels, they will
not be behind me because those have already been activated. They will
be in the levels ahead. It's a domino effect I'm controlling. I'm pushing
activations to be ahead of me to continue to sustain myself in the future.
(2) I'm building up a quantity of supplies for the future. I have stockpiled
almost 5,000 rounds of 5.45 X 39 by using the Viper ( 9 X 19 ) and my
Pistol ( 9 X 18 ). This means I don't have to waste money buying limited
quantities the Traders sell and I have the freedom in the other levels to
do things how and when I want. I won't be limited by a lack of ammo or
waiting for the Traders to sell enough for me to go back where I left off.
I have a nice stockpile of grenades, medkits, food, and all the various
sizes of ammo. Later I can makes trips to Rostok to move and centralize
my main supply stash to be in the center of the Zone and leave behind
enough so in each level I travel there will be enough to conduct operations
and not be having to carry a lot as I go forward saving me time and effort.
(3) I am building up my money to be used for important purchases like
PAB-9 and 7N1 ammo that enough quantities are not found in stashes or
by looting the dead. This means when I get a Vintar or SVD, I will have
built up a supply of them ( seeing Colonel Petrenko as soon as I arrive in
Rostok ) to enable better weapons going to Yantar and the Red Forest.
I mean what's the point in getting those weapons if you have no ammo
to use them or the money to get the ammo? Wasting money on weapons,
armor or other supplies are not the way to go. The Game provides plenty
of suits, weapons and other supplies to not have to buy something that
will wear out and not be cost effective. This goes back to my first point.
(4) By getting the Endurance artifacts in the Cordon tunnel, I now have the
stamina to be quick and do things fast, be it combat or mutant interactions.
By activating stashes giving me a Meat Chunk I have good health so I don't
have to carry a lot of medkits and bandages. By getting a Droplet and
other radiation reducing Artifacts, I don't have to carry a lot of Vodka or
Anti-Rads that I can save for later when I really need them in other levels.
(5) Due to respawns of Bandits that travel from other levels and enter the
Cordon at the entrance point from Garbage, this means I can choose an
endless variety of places and situations to confront them. I can get plenty
of practice with various weapons including the Pistol. I can attack them in
movement, I can await them in ambush or I can wait until they get to the
Car Park for urban combat alone or with the other Loners. I can hang out
with any of the other Loners and fight Mutants, Bandits or whatever the
Game gives me. All of this activity lets me build up my supply through
looting & the bonus is getting artifacts and Mutant Body Parts off the dead.
To answer your question about the Jobs/Tasks I am not taking them all. I
took the Psuedodog tail task only once since there was only 1 in the Cordon.
Later in the Cordon and other levels there will be more. I am not giving
up Artifacts or selling ANY in my Game by choice. Later I will give Sid
the jellyfish artifact ONCE to complete the task but I will not do so until
I have all 4 of the 4 artifacts he asks for in sequence tasks with the end
reward the Tourist Suit ( Stalker suit that carries 70kg ). Additionally
both Barkeep and Sakharov offer sequence tasks for artifacts given up
for Suit rewards. I will do each of those once but that is later in the Game.
This leaves Wolf's two jobs ( Boars Lair and Pig Farm mutants ) that I did
a few times until he was killed by the Military. The mutant dog job near
the Mill by Sid has been done multiple times. This leaves the 3 types of
assassin jobs by Sid done again and again. But on all of these I have
certain standards of moral conduct I have made for myself. I don't kill
anyone in front of other neutral NPCs so that I don't turn them into my
enemies too. I only kill if they are alone but only as a last resort. I
prefer for the Bandits or mutants to kill them first so I often wait the
24 hours for that to happen. This means a lot of travel back and forth
to all locations to activate ( go online ) the interactions at these places.
Half the time I may fail these tasks if it doesn't meet the conditions above.
I can always get them again. Additionally I make a Manual Save before
taking these. The Game randomly rotates the location of the tasks. If it
is in a undesirable location ( Rookie Village ) then I reload the Manual Save
before taking it and try again. Locations as the 2 Loners by the rock or
the 3 Loners by the campfire are easy prey to dogs or boars. Locations
such as the 1 Loner at the Car Park or 3 Loners who attack the Car Park
are also good choices since combat with Bandits or exposure to Mutants
makes their mortality rate high and I get credit for their death by any means.
For this reason only half of the time for the 3 jobs have I had to kill. And
yes this is more effort and time consuming but I have time to kill and I
don't slaughter neutral NPCs for no reason if not specifically designated.
So hopefully this insight will give you an idea how and why I do what I do.
The time spent in the Cordon now makes the entire rest of the Game better.

Shadow of Chernobyl - Patch 1.0005
I had originally intended for this Post to be a running account of my
Game being updated daily or at least every few days. However like
all good intentions, reality sometimes takes a different path. Instead
I got so absorbed in my Game that I found myself wanting to continue
playing every second I could. When I was at work, I could only think
about getting home & getting back to the action. So here we are 12 days
later and I have reached the 1 month mark. That is about 744 Game Time
Hours or 74 hours and 24 minutes of Real Time. While most people finish
other Games in 15 to 20 hours, The Zone's open-ended world offers more.
So here's the 1 Month wrap up in Screenshots. It's now June 1, 2012.
My average Cordon load with my total income: 190,022 rubles. I have not
sold any Armors or Artifacts to Sid. Nor have I bought a single item from him.
My main Rookie Village Stash on the right:
This is the contents of my Rookie Village Stash that I have removed and have
moved forward ( Tower Guardhouse ) to the Cordon exit in preparation for leaving:
Combine the two Stashes above to see what total supplies I have after 1 Month.
Both my Stashes contain brand new weapons that I recovered from Looting.
My Armor & Artifact Stash in Sid's Bunker. I'm showing the Leather Jacket
I wore for 29 days down to 1%. I switched to my 2nd Armor- Bandit Jacket:
Here's my PDA showing my location and the date in the lower right corner:
My current Ranking:
( Note: I did not give Nimble the Mail Jacket he wanted from his job.
His reward sucked and I decided to keep it to show all the Cordon Armors )
As far as Stash Activations go I activated and emptied 19 in the Cordon.
Cordon activity Purple Icon Stash Activations for me in the levels ahead:
Dark Valley: 20
So from my Post before after 19 days I had 7 in Rostok and 19 in
the Dark Valley. I got the 8th and 20th stash activations after about
21 days in the Cordon. After these a Player could leave the Cordon so
I would say you need at least 3 weeks in the Cordon to repeat the same.
First of all, let me say thanks for deciding to post these Tejas. I'm currently still not able to squeeze game time in, so I'll be following this adventure of yours instead, for a while.
In this picture:
What's the origin of the box between your Medkits and SMG?
I'm impressed by the fact that you're not making a move to other weapons, since you've got access to AKs and decent 9mm handguns. I know you cited the fact that you're saving these against future jobs... it's just that I've never been thrilled with the performance of the standard SMGs, or the 9x18mm pistols, in SoC or CoP, particularly against human targets.
At the Guard Tower near the entrance to Garbage, do I see in the picture:
.......that those two AKs are actually stashed outside the box?
SoC: I didn't realize they said it was Bloodsucker TENTACLES that were worth so much. Well, what do I do with these........?
CoP: "Snowflake", I'll give that wise guy Beard "Snowflake"......
