The downloads went well, once I accepted Google Chrome.

I got 8 parts which I unzipped. I then added the gamedata folder from part 2 to the gamedata folder for part 1. Then added parts 3, 4, and so on.

For the first couple it just added together. The rest appeared to require some overwriting - that's not right, is it?

I tried the thus-completed gamedata and the game crashed before reaching the menu screen.

Just what are the instructions for assembling the 8 parts? That is one thing that is glaringly absent from any of the directions or 'read me' files.

You probably only have to extract part one the rest will extract automatically that's what happens with most multipart downloads.

He posted his gamedata in sections, so simply merge them and you'll have it! great fun--lots of surprises like a whole new game

Joint_Pak pt.7 replaced

I replaced pt.7 with a new version containing the missing terrain textures. If you downloaded part 7 before 5/1/13 (the time of the new download post) you need the fix at the bottom of the post

I added one more bit of information the description: If you enter the Red Forest from Eastern Pripyat, before you have gained access there through the regular NS storyline, do not talk to NPC's. Just make your way through to a transition.

To explain that rule: Once you complete Sakharovs mission to bring him the 3 scientific books from labs X-16, X-18, and X-10. Thats as far as you have to go in the regular storyline to start the questline that takes you to Eastern Pripyat, Lab X-8, Pripyat underground, Jupiter, and Zaton. You can also gain access to the Red forest from Eastern Pripyat before the NS storyline takes you there, talking to the NPC's before a quest takes you there will cause problems.

You dont really need the new xr.game.dll till later in the game. Weapons that have scope zoom and target recognition need it. I had problems with avast and avira when I was making mods for Fallout 3 and New Vegas, they just dont like modder tools.

Short of shutting it off completely, how do you keep Avast from quarantining it? Do you think the xr.Game.dll that I grabbed from Boutch71's DMX 1.35 (it's for v1.004) will work?

You can run with the normal xr.game.dll until you aquire one of the weapons that need it (SVD "Lash", Exhaust "Anti-Terror", Akims FN2000). Then try the Boutch71 version or the one that was made for NS.

The head-bob wont affect the cheat protection, I've got mine changed also.

Have updated Steam forum top posts to add a heads-up on the recent English mod releases. Then I remembered Steam patches SOC to 1.0005. Tried the old NS SOC 1.0005 patch, but it wants to overwrite newer Joint Pak mod files.

Wulfric Strange April! Boutch71's DMX 1.3.5, Stalkerstein & Grunter-Hunter do Secret Trails 2, and Achillesdave's does the Joint Pak updated Narodnaya Solyanka. This new good stuff is drawing me back into the Zone.

I see there now a time limit on most the vanilla side quests if i wanted to change the time limit to unlimited like they where in the original NS can i do it with one change or do i have to alter each and every quest separately.

Each task has it own time limit, so you would have to edit them individually. gamedata/config/misc/task_manager you need to remove the line with the time.

Tried that 1.0005 patch. Loads but get no log crashes when pressing "F" to talk to Astrologer. Patch only contains two files, message_box.xml of 10/25/2011, and system.ltx of 10/25/2011. System.ltx overwrites the mod file dated 2/3/2013 (some of your translations inside?). Don't have the vanilla Russian version in-hand for comparisons. Tried the old trick of copying the "eng" folder and renaming the copy "rus", which didn't help.

Older NS adaptations had many more files. Maybe the mod is tweaked to minimize how many files must be patched for 1.0005? Or could it need the old adaptation + the two new files? [EDIT, it needs both]. DMX 1.3.5 is for V1.0004 or V1.0006, and has no 1.0005 adaptation. The DMX V1.0006 adaptations have only a few files: message_box.xml, task_manager.script, dialog_manager.script, xr_motivator.script and system.ltx.

EDIT: Need to check those Russian sites when I have time. Don't know what I'm doing.

EDIT 2: Working game in SOC V1.0005. Game starts, can talk to Astrologer. Tried "Adaption 1.0005, 1.0006.7z", which crashed. Put on top of it the usual NS adaptation to SOC 1.0005 "NS_adaptaciya_k_1.0005-1.0006", then copied over the Joint Pak "Adaption 1.0005, 1.0006.7z" again, overwriting files as needed.

May not need all of the files in the older adaptation. Particularly wonder if the FN2000 files are still needed. May also have lost some translated material, don't know. Not too many files involved in any event. And not sure of the "proper" installation order (NS, adaptaton, Joint Pak, adaptation, etc), but for our purposes we really just need something which works with this new English translation from Achillesdave. The ideal would be a single combined patch for 1.0005 users. Have not looked inside the affected files. Do they contain much translated material?
