Disabling wide screen

Hello stalkers, i wanted to ask how do i disbale this mods widescreen, i have 1024x1240 resolution and it doesnt fit me, i contacted tecnobacon and he said to edit files in ui folder but i dont even know with what program to pen xml files So maybe there is already ui folder somewhere uploded which will work with this mod and its for low res users? Or what is the name of program which lets you edit those files and what exacly do i need to change ?
---END QUOTATION---

I'm not 100% sure as to which lines to edit in order to tweak the resolution, but from what I've gathered you need to tweak these files:

carbody_new.xml
inventory_new.xml
trade.xml

I strongly suggest using Notepad++ to edit them, as it helps a lot with color-coding, etc.

http://notepad-plus-plus.org/

I've extracted and uploaded the necessary UI files here:

https://www.mediafire.com/?vcepbe58l50i8zz

there's also the _16 version of each, which (IIRC) are for widescreen resolutions

(I may be wrong about the files, but this is from what I've gathered, as being the three main files for adapting resolutions)

Guys, is there any mirror for photo realistic and absolute nature packs?
I will not participate in any host ideas, that forces me to make account, you know...
no steam, no mega(they forces changing browser, ridiculous), no fb, no twitter, ZERO mafiaa.
Or someone knows if new packs are different from old ones, maybe these are the same?

Problem solved! TB suggested running XR3DA as an admin and... somehow, that made it not freeze. Initial load took less than a minute, and about as long before the autosave that signifies everything having been initialized occurred. Still don't know yet if Agroprom, Yantar, ATP, x10 work for me in this version yet. (Each crashed on level load in the last version.) I'll have to test after work.

Stalkersoup is an interesting attempt at pushing the engine to its absolute limits, without changing the engine itself and I do have high hopes that it will become more stable with time; but I think it's reached the point where no more stuff need to be added until it's stable enough to be played properly
---END QUOTATION---

I'm wondering about the future now. What if the Stalkersoup system could be migrated to the Lost Alpha engine in the future?

[redacted: Misread "turn the comp off" as referring to rebooting the system, which hasn't helped this issue.:/

No that's just what happened with me when it would not work on my old computer it would not go past synchronization and my whole computer just froze so had to turn it off and on ''reboot''.

My old pc could play stalker soc easy so I could not understand why stalkersoup was about the only mod I could not play only a small few had the same problem and TB didn't no what could be causing it.

The db's supposedly makes it faster and less crashes but stalkersoup is the only version of NS iv'e had trouble playing crash wise.
---END QUOTATION---

granted that TB's version is indeed a helluva lot faster in terms of loading-times (at least in my experience), but he's also added a whole lot more stuff (much of it, which I'm not sure if I find necessary or not)

I'm not sure exactly what TB has changed to make the loading-times this much more efficient (I've a pretty beefy computer with 16GB RAM and all that and still Narodnaya Soljanka has a loading-time of 42 seconds, compared to Stalkersoup which takes about 13-14 seconds)

Stalkersoup is an interesting attempt at pushing the engine to its absolute limits, without changing the engine itself and I do have high hopes that it will become more stable with time; but I think it's reached the point where no more stuff need to be added until it's stable enough to be played properly

this recent patch has me crashing more than ever, oftentimes without any error log whatsoever, which is kinda annoying, but.. here's hoping for the future

Well in the last db version a while back I had the same problem on my old computer with the game freezing at synchronization or (entering the zone) and had to turn the comp off, but iv'e no such problems with my new comp.

You could try unpacking the db's and just use the gamedata folder but I also tried this when it would not work and didn't help

[redacted: Misread "turn the comp off" as referring to rebooting the system, which hasn't helped this issue.]

Wasn't the entire point of the DB system to speed things up significantly, though? (Not to mention having to redownload the vanilla DB files from steam for a third time.) Looks like I'm going to have to skip out on the Soup then, since older versions won't load certain maps due to some shader/memory related crash, and this version won't do anything at all. :/

Not sure to be honest I think the Stalkersoup Collector is made or updated by dAVROs I think he is in the stalkersoup team, the Collector in Joint pak might be an older version because the two are different.
---END QUOTATION---

well, that would explain a lot
thanks for the clarification.

I've always wondered.. isn't Stalkersoup's 'The Collector', the same one as Joint Pak Soljanka has?

Stalkersoup does claim that "a jump-height of 11 is necessary in order to play 'The Collector' missions", whilst Joint Pak Soljanka claims that there is absolutely no need to change it?

also the 'low-crouch' in Stalkersoup isn't really crouch at all, but rather 'crawl'....

that and the 150kg. weight-limit are my main issues in terms of 'balance' of Stalkersoup; but I do 'correct them' myself - still confuses me though....
