I have finally attained the source for the engine!

I will participate in the GNU and have already joined the new consortium to improve the engine.

My first pass will be to fully implement DX11 and improve the debug system.

The conversion to 64bit will take a few months as many arrays within the engine will need to be redone to use more than 64k indexes.

I will also be integrating MY social media and multiplayer hooks so that a shell will not be needed.

This is a big deal for stalkersoup and means that I will be able to improve MANY things AND add all the LA creatures still pending.

Things like weapon ballistics, true keyboard input, 32 lightmaps vice 8 and much more!

I have so much more to do now but am a HAPPY STALKER INDEED!

ALSO: 109970 will be available very soon and adds the rest of the ZEP/gold bars quests as well as redesigning the treasure hunt to coincide with the main Collector level-up storyline.

More stable with less crashes from memory overflow as well as many fixes to the STALKER level-up.

This Holiday will be a good one for use STALKERS!

I hope to read some good reviews of your massive mod. So far its been half and half on like and dislike.

I will keep a close eye on your development and improvement to your mod.

The Collector

Ok, here I am again.

I played all the stalker games, some of the main mods, and actually got all the way thru NS or the DMX version once.

I tried an early version of SS, then ver 34, and now have 60 loaded up. That seems to run fine as a Stalker, but I got to the point where I couldnt find some essential quest items, and Eric doesnt want us getting such from trader files, so I am thinking of playing as Collector.

I tried Collector before, but didnt take it far, as I recall. The beginning was so strange, the premise seeming to be that you were an experienced stalker, blown back from NPP by an emission, and landed on the roof of the factory near the military checkpoint in Cordon.....with a mediocre suit, a fancy sighted sniper rifle, a vanilla shotgun and almost no artifacts, but a whole raft of music sticks. So I guess the SKAT15 or other suit you had, well advanced in your stalker career just....morphed into something lesser. LOL

But I learned how to tweak the tb3d files and can now start even stalker with what I want. So I am thinking of playing as Collector again.

Can someone tell me what the "collector story" is? When I tried it, you got the same ol Strelok Mission from Sid. As I understand it, this is now different from the NS stalker story thread. Please fill me in! In general terms, of course, as we dont want spoilers here. I dont see anything on the Technobacon site and I am not on the Steam forum. Nor have I read all but the first and last couple pages of this thread.

The Collector

The Collector is the first level-up in the series.

Level-up 0 is the stalker/ns story which I am trying to keep as original as possible changing only what has to be.

Level-up 1 is the Collector which carries on after the Dead City sewer and you keep most of your stuff and any undone miniquests. It comprises of the complete Collector Treasure hunt (dAVROs and others) broken into 2 parts. It also starts my story which is the ZEP (Zone Expansion Project) and the Gold Bars both of which build the stage for level-up 2 (Desolation).

109970 establishes the final structure for the final stage of zep which I am now working on for 109980.
The equipment available through gameplay is now a bit more balanced, not allowing the LDK (dAVROs made and my new stuff) to show up too soon and make the game 'NUKEM DUKEM' style.

Since I now have the COMPLETE xray sdk I am starting work on a more sophisticated ballistics system that will support the new toys as well.

As the BETA gets close to the end my main focus of course is bugs and other issues with stalker/ns but these are getting fewer and much easier to fix. This implies that I will have more time (as I pretty much am alone in the development) to get level-up 1 completed before 1.1.0.0 is released.

As 109970 shows: my new methods in scripting and structure definitely are improving performance; and the dynamic content (granted it adversely effects the AMK respawner) has allowed a massive amount of variety and alife to the Zone (appx 264k objects vice 64k).

Maybe I'll gain some new collaboration for level-up 2 for story and quests but they would have to work in secret as what I am creating must remain a surprise for my older fans!

But there seems little direction in the form of the NS missions that led you along. Are you just supposed to wander about hoping to pick up something? The Tech at the bar said a guy mentioned Wasted Woodland...but going there got me nothing -- no one there. Just looking for some hint about what one should be doing.

When you say the Stalker/NS story line is level 0, does that mean if you play thru that, you become the Collector? But you can start as Collector.

In any case, thanks much for all your hard work!

Don't confuse my Collector level-up (level-ups never existed before SS) with the old CS134 which is the collector treasure hunt. I added the treasure hunt way back in 2010 and then a while later dAVROs started to contribute more to it. The reason for the Collector start option is that many of my players (4 years worth) don't want to keep repeating level-up 0 and want to help with the advanced beta testing for getting to release.

My Collector level-up occurs in Dead City in the sewer instead of the DMX135 unfinished Zaton story. If you play through and level-up then you keep most of your stuff and whatever miniquests you have remain.

I have had to split the treasure hunt into two parts so that the ZEP progression is not messed with. Once you have accomplished the radar portals and found that stash it stops until ZEP document 24 is done. At that time you will get an sms informing you that Caesier had been seen in the ATP awhile back...

ZEP must be completed but not the treasure hunt but it will disappear on level-up 2 (Desolation) as will some other things...

109971 will have fixes for Kruglov (finally) and a better cube story and several that were added by the last localization project submission.

I also cleaned up the pda and messages as part of the ui cleanup project.

I will have 95% of ZEP done and 100% of the Gold Bars quest as well as the treasure hunt working 100%

ZEP in Collector

When you return to Sid after Dead City you have a conversation about odd happenings in the Zone. He gives you an old road from dark Valley to Darkscape and thinks it is a good place to check out.

In Darkscape you meet Tweed who has info and a quest if you want it, taking the quest for the book will get you the road from Darkscape to the Cordon. I advise getting the stuff from Sid and returning to Tweed as you get some very useful items.

You do not need Tweed for ZEP though, the documents spawn anyway and are there to be found. You must find them in order and pay attention to any messages you receive as you will need to follow them.

Once you get to the Bar you need to talk to key characters and establish a path to Wasted Woodland where you will find a ZEP doc and a note. Then you need to go to the Lost Village...

That should get you started on ZEP.

The Gold Bars will be introduced to you when you properly progress to Broken Road just before you travel to F1. The Gold Bars are well worth the time as what you will get is extremely useful in level-up 2.

Monolit now re-usable.
Autosave prevention during menu pause (caused ctd on load).

More dynamic spawns.
More dynamic mobs.

Also more memory and performance tweaks.

Hi Tecnobaco, re next update, after giving Kutsenov vodka in Cordon before the game stopped working, I went to pass thru and the soldiers open fire as if I hadn't paid. Also for when all testers reported issues are sorted, would you please consider putting the spawn items in English. I did the artefacts list of Russian/English and items as far as Sidorovich imitation head but CTDs if I tried to go further, so even a Russian /English, butvbetter still just English. Nice to see things coming together. Thanks and regards, and also for yr reply email, Pierre
