NEWS

Hi folks,

The news is good. GSC have agreed in principle to publish Snork Bait as an official novel. Negotiations are ongoing and contracts have yet to be finalised, but I've been given the nod to let the cat out of the bag.

Right now I'm deep into editing the text and bringing the story to a conclusion (the one it was always going to work up to, so it'll change, but won't move from the outcome I always intended), and that's why there's been no update or info for so long. Apologies for that.
The next news will be when contracts are (hopefully) finalised, and that will probably come first via GSC's FB page, etc.

Have to say thanks for all the reads and support. The story was always for fans and written in the hope that someone liked it. All this is just an added bonus that you made possible.

Three years ago today, snorkbait started publishing a story.

And it was good.

Probably not so good that it's still not finished, but...I guess I'll get there in the end.

Three years, though. Where has the time gone?!

Just read through the whole thing again.
This story is excellent. I would defiantly buy it if it was published in book form.

I like the twist, that in the game the bandits are evil, and you shoot them on sight.
In the story, they are actually the most friendly to strangers, all-though they most likely have hidden motives for being friendly, the stalkers, and Duty on the other act as bungholes towards newcomers.

I do hope there are more chapters on the way.
---END QUOTATION---

Weelll...in the first game, the bandits are 'evil' because that was just the way the factions were set up. In CS, as a Merc, you were able to wander around and, tbh, there wasn't really a lot between the Free Stalkers and the Bandits. And in any group, you get good and bad and all shades in between. Though of course the Bandits (via Sultan) do want something...and the best way to get that is to be (or play) nice.

Duty always struck me as having a deep agenda as well as a murky past (it's probably made clear somewhere or other, but I've never really figured them out). That's still the case in-story.

Creativity ground to a halt for a while and I'm trying to get back into the groove. Even if SB never becomes a 'proper' book, though, you'll get the full story. If nothing else, I can still do as I'd originally intended - get it finished and posted here.
Anything else really is unintended and unexpected, though it'd also prove that sometimes pipe-dreams of the 'Wouldn't it be great if...?' variety do occasionally come true (even if we don't really dare to think they ever could).
(Not that anything is likely to happen: it's been made clear that there are no promises, and I've been hovering around the writing scene for long enough to know that anyway.)
