Can't imagine the satisfaction you must be feeling over this, I would be happier than a.. kid in a candy store (in lack of something more original)

While I don't much like the fact that the story must be slimmed down, I do understand why and must say I'm grateful for it. A two parter might work, since you are rewriting it, adding a huge cliffhanger might be easy! (if that is what i takes for a couple of hundred more pages of snorkbait )

Just give us a shout when it is out on the market!

Cheers!

I just like thick books and a good long story. How about 3 volumens at around 300-350 pages each?

I was kicking a few ideas around earlier about reorganizing story elements to create a break point, but when I starting looking at the work it'd take to actually do it...I'd still be clearing things up by next summer (and GSC want it well before then).
So, hard as it is, cuts are the simplest way to go (e.g. Rusty's gone in the new version).

However...and bear in mind this in only tentative...I have been thinking about producing a sequel and/or some short stories to fill in the blanks and tell the stories of some other characters (Rusty's tale being one of them).
Whether that's something worth doing is pretty much up to you guys (the short stories would appear on here as a kind of freebie bonus).
As I say, it depends on feedback and if people would be interested in reading that stuff.

A bit of everything, as far as a sequel novel goes. It would depend on if people want to know what happens next. If people here want it but no one else does...fair enough. If everyone wants to know what happened next in SB's life, so much the better.
But if no one wants to know, then there'd be no point.

Same for the short stories - if people want to read them, I'll write them. If they don't want them, I won't.
The difference with the short stories is, seeing as they'd be put on here as extras, it's up to the folks here to let me know if they're wanted or not, and that can begin now.

Oh God...I think I'd rather have my man-bits dipped in a Fruit Punch (or possibly not )

But, that's definitely two, maybe four (given the comments so far, I'm going to include PCDania and CS in the 'Yes'es).
Come on, people, this is democracy in action.

*quietly wonders how he can make Snorkbait go over the Reichenbach Falls*

EDIT:
Also, FYI: the title's going to change. Pending GSC's agreement/confirmation, the finished book will be called "Strange Horizons" (presumably with the STALKER logo above it so it's STALKER: Strange Horizons).

Truth be told, end cost to the reader is probably my biggest concern where CreateSpace is concerned (though you could always get the ebook version instead )).
---END QUOTATION---

Hey Snorky, wait a sec... you know very well how happy I am for you and all, but GSC makes SB "official" yet lets you make the book with CreateSpace? As in self-publishing?

Ye might be in trouble, me olde mate.

I need to go out and get me some strange tonight.

By the way, I think "Strange Horizons" sucks for a title. It should be "Snorkbait" or nothing.

Each word should be at least 3 characters long.
