Cheers all.

Zug: Since the story was incomplete, and the book will be an updated version (new beginning, some bits added, some bits lost - primarily to ease the flow but also to bring the page count down (and reduce cost; a 1000+ page behemoth would carry a heftier tag than a more typical 300-350 page book)), I won't have time to complete and post everything on here as per the original intention.
I'm burning the candle at both ends as it is to get it ready in decent time, so...sorry, but the book version will be it.

I can understand how and why this might cause issues, but I also hope you (and everyone else) can understand that this situation was unintentional. The idea of having it properly published was really just a dream, sort of a 'Wouldn't it be great if...' bit of fantasy. I thought I'd finish it and it'd only appear here, or maybe via a free pdf, and that'd be it.
In the meantime, I know GSC are keen on keeping the thread, so I can ask if they'd go for me posting the end here. Not sure what the answer would be, and their decision would be final; at this point, I'm not entirely master of my own destiny.

Can you make it 450-500 pages (or two volumes each at 450-500 pages?)

Funnily enough, splitting it into volumes has been suggested. I'm just not sure there is a clear enough 'cut' point that'll a) leave people satisfied with part 1 and b) make them want to get part 2.

Also, 450-500 pages is still a bit too long. There'd be no problem with the ebook version at any length (price can be set at whatever, regardless). But for the print version, using CreateSpace, anything over 350-400 pages at most sees the price to the customer rise significantly. A paperback of 400 pages couldn't sell for £7.99, for example, because it would generate a loss, when the idea is obviously for GSC to make some money. Even at 350 pages and priced at £7.99, the royalty going to GSC isn't great (maybe around £1).
Truth be told, end cost to the reader is probably my biggest concern where CreateSpace is concerned (though you could always get the ebook version instead )).

Each word should be at least 3 characters long.
