Assuming this actually hasn't been posted before:

Managed to dig up a little pre-release build info myself.

(I checked the search engine and found no mention of this on the forums.)

I by chance stumbled upon this video and assuming the uploader is being truthful, it's music from the earlier versions of the games. Some of these songs seem to date back to Oblivion Lost or at least have that sort of feeling to them, as techno-based action music doesn't quite fit with the final release's atmosphere.

Of interesting note: Wasteland II is in the final release (sans an "instrument" or two) as the menu theme; Explore is in the final release (with radio filter) as music in the Bar area, Duty base.

Good news: I've got a replacement for Movie Maker.

Bad news: I'm sick of having to add all sounds manually because FRAPS is an overrated POS that won't record any audio in the games I actually want to play.

I take that back. The real problem wasn't FRAPS after all.

The real problem is that Dell shipped this PC with a deliberately crippled sound driver, probably at the behest of Big Content. I found a hacked driver that re-enables the necessary functions. The sound quality isn't super, but it should get the job done.

Thank you again. That worked nicely and I just had a rousing game of "Kill-Everyone-And-Loot-The-Bodies." Despite God Mode being on this was rather challenging, as my poor laptop can't handle the level of detail and everything was very jerky.

Having played with Build 1935 for some time, I was amazed NOT to crash at all.

Thank you. That got me to "Can't open video stream." Found several mentions of this error around the net. The translations are a little weird, but it gives me something to go on. (Or someone could tell me how to fix it here?)

And yup, I did delete the saved games.

Plus: BobBQ, AKA the Build Explorer, you are awesome/crazy. I have visited this thread, your Youtube channel, and Tiger's Spring many times.

you can also delete the saved games, so the game wont load them, but will try to launch a new game...

When all else fails, you can make your own icon.

Step 1: create a blank text file in the build's root directory (that's the same folder as xr_3da.exe and user.ltx). Name the file Start.txt for now.

Step 2: paste the following text into your new file -

@xr_3da.exe -nocache -cls -start server(all/single/alife) client(localhost)

Step 3: save the file and rename it to Start.bat.

Step 4: double-click Start.bat. If there's nothing else wrong with the build, it should launch.

...I guess I should post a build video or something.

I hate to ask such a stupid question here, but can anyone help me run Build 2205? Specifically, how do I go about running it in the first place?

My first problem is that I don't know which icon to click to start the game. I've tried them all and gotten various error messages (fixed the stul one), but it would be very helpful to know which one will actually work so I can focus my efforts on it and see if I can bumble my way through the errors.

In case I'm not making myself clear here, I'll put it another way.

To play Build 1935 (which I have many times) you click on run_alife_s or run_alife_all. What is Build 2205's equivalent? I've downloaded this thing twice and there is nothing that says start anywhere...
