I finished this '47 M44 earlier this month. Stock was completely stripped and 12 hr hot bleached, decosmo'd, sanded to 600grit and refinished w/ minwax natural & golden pine stain with 4/0 steel wool between coats.

Bolt action was sanded to 600 grit and polished the trigger sear, trigger pull is now at 4lbs and sharp, crisp break. Finished with a dozen coats of satin poly with several coats minwax wax paste for the final touch. I was going to polish the entire bolt like I did to my 91/30 but the cocking piece & bolt have too much gouging in them.

The sling leather straps were soaked in extra virgin olive oil for 2 days to bring back pliability.

The pics don't do any justice. The finish has a deep, rich amber tone and the stock is as smooth as a baby's butt.

My 1986 Romanian G (Romy G). Purchased the kit minus receiver a month ago. Just recently finished it up. Gonna leave the furniture as is.

I actually thought about that. What do you think, what would be a reasonable pricing for a grip like that?
---END QUOTATION---

Vike,
I saw a fellow selling some "custom" AK pistol grips for $35.
www.akfiles.com
The ad is in the "marketplace" section under the thread "WTS: Wood AK Grips".
This will give you an idea/good starting point.
Good Luck

Ah, alright. In general it isn't a bad idea as the brake is quite effective, but it should be properly aligned then

---QUOTATION---
That is some very nice work on that pistol grip. You could sell those!

I meant the HK91, the first picture shows it with a AK muzzlebrake. At least it looks like one, it's definitively not the Standard flashhider normally found on an G3.
---END QUOTATION---

Ahhh, that one. The previous owner installed that on it and I'm looking to replace it with a standard "birdcage" type soon. It does look like the AK74 brake.

BTW...
"and why is there a AK74 flashhider on it )" .....That's because it's a Bulgarian AK74.
Where do you see HK grey paint on?
