also its silenced. And that is not legal far as I know. I mean, it IS illegal to have a silencer, even if with out the gun.

Acolyte, do you know of any US competitors of Val and Vintorez that use the same bad ass ammo those guys do? Would love to learn more about them.

The Val/Vintorez system, so far as I know, has no direct analogue in United States service. The closest thing that comes to mind is Heckler & Koch's SL9SD in 7.62x37, but it's an obscure beast.

Suppressors (silencers) are legal in the USA, depending on the state you live in. Same with full autos and short barrel rifles and shotguns.

None. And probably will not be. The USA military prefers accurate weapons. This can be observed with out last four standard issue rifles, which were generally more accurate than their Russian and European counter parts.

Russia does not place emphasis on marksmen ship unlike the US military, which is why the adopted the AS VAL/VSS for SF units.

Never new about the HK thing. I wonder how accurate it is.

And some pics of my second rifle, the Mosin Nagant 1891/30. This one was made in 1939 in Russia.

I don't. 7.62x39 ( called "7.62 Soviet" ) is very popular, and 5.45x39 is getting more popular due to the high price of .223 and 5.56 NATO.

But I don't know of any rifles over here that fire 9x39, so (apart from being extremely expensive, as I mentioned) there's no demand and no reason to import it.

We have plenty of our own cartridges that hit hard enough to get the job done.

Cool, thanks for the info. That HK SL9SD looks pretty sweet! Wonder when they'll unveil it to the media? So what are the last 4 standart issued US rifles you're talking about, BobBQ?
