The Metacognix website went dark 30 January for most visitors, soon after I touted its high reliability.

I hadn't visited there for a while, but I just tried it - and I see it isn't available for me either :/

>> Did you "touch" those anomalies while experimenting?

ERForman, I "touched" them the way I've done since the first version of 1.07, so nothing new there. That doesn't mean everything is fine with that approach of simply moving the anomalies offline.

But I've done a lot of stress testing on that path with the vanilla all.spawn with actions that are not normally done (see my previous post) and I might have complicated matters a bit further with the experiments using the ShoC_Treatment files. For example, I've been using saves where the ZRP main menu script was embedded in a gamedata.dbs file, and my current saves are using script-free versions of .db4, .dba, and .dbb, with all the ShoC_Treatment scripts in gamedata.dbbb by themselves.

Other than that glitch (formerly known as "show-stopper" ), the game has been pretty smooth and trouble-free other than the usual vanilla-related stuff.

Well there are too dang many anomalies in Red Forest ya know!!! But something I have noticed is that the bodies of Monolith bastards, dogs, and Zombies seem to twirl around and around rather than exploding in them for longer than usual.... Particularly near the tunnel and in that one valley that is practically impassable.

Hi NatVac,

it's awesome to see that there are still people trying to fix more bugs even after this long time.

At the same time it's a shame that the adaption of this fixes by mods seems rather "slow" in general (or it isn't really communicated much - which should totally be done!).

Regarding your new work on optimizing Stalker, WOW.
I always wondered why, in all this time since Stalker was released, not one modder thought about cleaning out old stuff and building a solid "Vanilla" base first. Or maybe modders thought about it but never really saw the need?

Looking at other games, I sometimes wander of with my thoughts. If I look at games like Skyrim - they got ScriptExtender and ScriptDragon which make awesome stuff possible (like SkyBoost which was used to Boost pre 1.4 Patch performance on CPU limited system up to 50% - I myself have seen and measured a 40% increase). They patched functions of the executable at run time to achieve this without changing the actual exe.

Then again there are/ where "similar" Projects for Stalker like I think it was called XRAY Extensions for fixing bugs/ adding stuff by writing new ASM.

I always wondered - is it the lack of knowledge or time why nobody tries to tackle the Savegame Corruption which happens when too much stuff seems to be saved (I recall reading somewhere that something shouldn't grow beyond 7,5 kb or something like that in the save - not sure as it was long ago).

There's a rather large compilation mod (in German) which I play (Includes AMK 1.4, NCQ, tons of other stuff) and I always wonder if it could be made more stable/ better performing if it would be "rewritten" in the sense of using ZRP + your latest project as a base. It also can run into the savegame corruption rather easily if you don't know the "Dos and dont's" of the mod...

Sadly that's probably never going to happen. Nevertheless I'll probably trying to work with what you posted regarding the script fixes in the other topic.

I think the sole fact to see if there are any changes is rather interesting.

Since I managed to "mod the mod" I play to my own liking in some regards (including searching russian sites and using google Translate to make them somewhat readable) I guess I should be able to get this to work...

Well if it even works with the mod

Still not working here. The tracert shows my ISP's network is not the problem, the problem looks to be on the hosting end in the US, which fits with what NatVac has said. Looks like it is rejecting traffic from some places (like my end of the world) and accepting it from others (like your end of the world).

I've logged a job with my ISP - they have nothing to fix, but they usually are happy enough to contact the other end where the problem is (network engineer to network engineer fashion) to get them to fix the problem (as it tends to have better results than if a normal web user tries to get something done).

Just heard back from my ISP. They were unable to connect to the ZRP website directly, but were able to using some proxies (but not other proxies). They pinpointed the problematic hop (where all the failed connections time out) as:
po-1.c20.stngva01.us.wh.verio.net [204.2.120.2]

They basically said the website admin would have to work out why some connections are accepted and others are rejected, as the problem is on the website side.

I cannot seem to connect either! I can confirm that po-1.c20.stngva01.us.wh.verio.net [204.2.120.2] seems to be the troublesome hop. I realize that you have no control over this, NatVac, but this might be worth reporting to your webspace hosters.

Shoc treatment

So I went throught this little procedure, took all of 10 minutes. Was it an earth shattering improvement? Naw, but it was definitely a noticeable improvement in lag/stutter, and load times. As we all know with SHOC, every little bit helps! Thanks again and again Nat!
