K, so i did a complete reinstall, now i gave myself administrative rights to everything, i disabled the UAC control shit and it went smooth. I ran the game without patching it or adding any mods, and it worked. A added the 1.0005 patch, still no problems! Installed supermega fatso mod to try it, priboi story, still works beautifully(crashed a couple of times but who cares, it WORKS).

Oooh yes, i always wanted to try some of these bigger mods, now i can.

Controller

The controller effects are really cool. Had I missed them in prior releases ??? Were they just now enabled??? I remember them being discussed ages ago - part of particle mod ???

Egg's particles.xr did modify some of the Controller effects if I remember correctly. I'm sure NatVac will be along shortly to correct me (every time I mention something about ZRP, I seem to get it wrong, lol), but it's not a recent thing. If I remember rightly, one of the effects is a whirlwind effect, which is meant to make the Controller easier to spot (I could never get it to work, so I just usually use the debug key sequence to kill every Controller on the level, much easier). Egg's file is not enabled by default I don't think, but you do get it if you enable the campfire option in ZRP. And if you get particles.xr, you should get the Controller effect as well.

Found a couple of potential issues. An awful texture problem like here (just to the left of the cursor):

And the massive recoil on the Shotguns (the ones the Bandits use) at the start of the game (when I fire one, it ends up pointing at the ceiling). Only ZRP installed, and no changes except those made by the ZRP modifier (and I don't recall any marked as affecting weapons or graphics).

Doesn't ZRP use some custom textures for the inventory screen? You may have a file in gamedata\config\ui that isn't properly matched to that texture's dimensions.

NatVac has replied to my post over at the ZSG forums - it was a widescreen related file that he put into this latest ZRP version. He doesn't have widescreen to test, so he didn't notice that it caused a problem. Here is the fix:

I had copied a contrast-improving texture from the standard resolution file to the wide-screen file. Of course, it gets stretched out of proportion.

Fix: Edit gamedata\config\ui\inventory_new_16.xml. Delete the line:
<texture>ui\ui_btn_mm_d</texture>

and save.

A different kind of start

It took a couple of weeks in the zone to fully recover my memory and get prepared for the mission that Sid has given me. Not that it was hard, it just took some planning and a ton of junk to sell to the right trader. But finally I was ready:

I knew that Petruha and his men were poorly equipped so I brought them some better rifles (courtesy of Duty guards at Garbage):

Told them to go for it... but really I wanted to be nothing more than an observer. I went to check how Nimble was doing:

It was a tough fight for Petruha and his men... only Petruha made it:

The Agroprom mission was a trivial matter. The Duty, however, didn't seem too nice even though I helped them fight off the boar attack:

After the X18 mission (also trivial) I decided to help the local stalker community in the Cordon village:

The mercs didn't seem to know... or care:

Having the blockpost almost empty made the next special mission for Sid a matter of simply walking in and taking what Sid wanted me to take...

Next thing on the menu will be Strelok's stash in Agroprom.

EDIT: I forgot to mention that this is an unmodified installation - it was downloaded and dropped into SMM window, the modifier program was not used (or other changes to the mod were made).

NatVac, or someone,

I've noticed when I play ZRP that Military will sometimes approach the Dark Valley from Garbage, and when they get to Duty's little outpost there, a firefight ensues. Is the Military's hostility to Duty a change made by ZRP, or were the two also hostile in Vanilla?

Missing Textures in Inventory

I am missing a couple of weapons Textures in inventory
Ziphty Viper, Invisible in inventory but visible in game & the VSS Vintorez C.E appears as parts of cheap armour in inventory but normally in game. There were a few other things earlier on in the game exploding drums petrol containers possiblly a few others always in inventory never in game thanks in advance for any help offered Beebee
PS Everything was installed with SMM & I have checked the textures & meshes folders in the ZRP against the ones in the Stalker folder & everything seems to be in place
& here is my mod list
