OLED screens for gaming?

OLED PC screens still seem to be in the future, but they're nothing new for TV sets. But do you dare to play longer game sessions on them due to the burn-in risk (e.g. from an in-game HUD)?

Otherwise the advantages of OLED (over say QLED) seem to be fast response time and better contrast, but how important are those things in practice? Do you really need that response time if you're not an esport gamer, and how many real games or movies feature the kind of contrast seen in the OLED demos?

OLED seems to be a non-starter on PC due to burn-in. After a few months, you will permanently have your task bar, browser toolbar, status bar, and close button negatives overlayed on top of your games. We might have to wait for microLED.

It's definitely a consideration for someone who has their PC on for hours every day, Personally I don't see what's wrong with what we use now.

I won't pretend to fully understand the differences beyond what the basic literature tells us but I've got no issues with what we can get now so I see no need to look any further than what's tried tested & readily available today.

For gaming the thing I thought would matter the most was the response times & my first monitor that I bought with gaming in mind was an LED TN panel with a 2ms response time, after having had the importance of a good responce time drilled into my head I was a touch concerned about how moving to a 4ms screen several years later would affect me but I couldn't tell the difference so it's a non issue for me, In contrast burn in would be an issue so unless they fix it OLED won't be on my radar anytime soon.

For me going with either TN, VA or IPS is what matters when looking for a screen to use with my PC. I have an LCD (UW1440) & LED (1080p) monitor right now & they both do their job admirably,

I can't see anything about OLED that makes me want to make the move. I'll likely move to QLED (Quantum-dot Light Emitting Diode) next & I think I'll also be making the move to a high refresh rate adaptive sync 4k TV with HDR rather than another monitor.
