I haven't played No Man's Sky, but I recognize the jaded feeling from many of Skyrim's 100+ dungeons.

I was watching this game some time ago and caught on that it was all bullshit after watching many interviews. The guy can't even make eye contact when asked questions and gets very nervous. If you look at demos that are a year apart they are the same exact demo...and turns out the things in the demo aren't even in the release.

Apparently some people still like it. I can't agree from what I know.

Wonder if this will become a blessing or a curse... I can imagine great things being made this way, but also lots of mediocre content spamming until players end up getting sick of both open games and in-game exploration.

You are right. It is much easier to create procedural content with variation then it is to hand craft content.

I think the greatest thing to take away from No Man's Sky though is the amazing procedurally generated music; it's a relatively new frontier, I think.

You know "procedurally generated boredom" doesn't really help the case in terms of marketing, so, I guess being sincere was off the table since day one for these guys.
