The most frustrating thing of all

I truly enjoyed FS and I'll have a review going up on one of the better known gaming sites in about a week or so but theres one thing that nearly killed the game for me....

The cut-away camera. Its certainly a useful feature for when the Artefact or new weapon appears or when you get a particularly tough NPC beaming in but as the game goes on it seems to cut away at random times to show enemies you are already dealing with . The most frustrating aspect is when you are low on health and are fighting a tough opponent who is firing on you, the camera will cut away to show another NPC beaming in and when it returns you dead from the enemy you were fighting originally. This also seems to happen when you're trying to do a double-jump and your near a dangerous drop-off you end up sailing off the edge by the time the camera returns to you.

I've looked on the in-game menus and see no option to shut this off. Ideally it would remain functional for the Artefact and weapons but I can certainly do without having it activate to show me monsters that are going to find me anyway. i've looked in the text files in the install directory but don't see anything that I'd associate with this function. Any help from one of the devs would be appreciated.

Lastly, IMO you really should have released this game at a higher price point (say $29.95 USD) with online capability enabled. Overall I have to say the team did a tremendous job with Firestater and at such a low price point, is probably one of the best values in PC gaming I can ever remember playing. kudos.

(please please patch the game for online play though...)

Is it your review at Homelanfed.com? I think it is very fair and to the point. Although, the writing style is somewhat discontinuous and odd in places.

PS: the screenshots with the article are aweful. I still don't have the full game, but the demo looks much better on my system.

Yes, its my review. I compressed the pics a little more than I should have , the game looks quite good on my rig though. In retrospect I probably should have gone with stock photos....

I don't have a problem with the $29.95 price, I think that's great! EBGames.com has it on pre-order for $19.99 with a ship date of 3/3/2004!
