What do you collect?

Audioave10~

That sounds like a Gem in your collection. Likewise I tried to collect a
lot of the early Lucas Arts stuff ( non-Star Wars ) and some of the rare
Duke Nukem compilations and hard to find expansion packs. Collecting
Video Games like you have, is in my opinion a worthy and exciting hobby.

It is a good challenge as some have re-releases on CD but the original (still on floppy disc) may be more valuable. Some also have different box-art versions.

I bought a HUGE game that comes with a cloth map...

love the Ultima series (especially IV & V), been playing them since '88 - the fact that they all (apart from the Underworld series, I believe) came with cloth-map and 'trinket' (I have the amulet from the game of Ultima V with my boxed copy [of] Ultima V for the Amiga 500, as well as the cloth-map, etc.) gave those games such more depth and story (also included in my case is the journal of Lord British as he enters the underground and the tales thereof, as well as a story with regards to how he came to unite the lands, etc.) - old Infocom games also had similar traditions (I have Zork 1, 2 and 3 for the C64 - come with a whole slew of 'feelies' as they were known )

I realize the ease of keeping games on your hard-drive or 'in the cloud' these days, but we are sorely missing out on some fantastic pieces of art, separate from, but in my opinion, intricate [to] the games that we play today, especially in the cRPG-genre (I realize that a lot of games still come with a map, but... it's usually cheap quality)

Lord Santa...well said!
My game has a leather bound version of the Lord British journal also. There are 15 different "feelies" in my big box game. I actually bought that for $78 shipped from Ebay. That's not a bad price really.
That monster was shipped in a TV box!

Now that you mention it, some of my early Lucas Arts stuff is indeed on floppies.

Ha! I'll probably stick with GSC. I do have a new & sealed boxed copy of Firestarter.
I plan to add Cossacks too.

What do you collect?

The older Games had really fat, very detailed Strategy Guides that
I consider an integral part to pairing with the cardboard box versions.

For example:

A good find is this one that covers all 9 Games:

The Dig?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Dig

One of the first video games I ever played. Me and my older brother used to play together... I would've only been a few years old.

"It's the P.I.G...." very memorable game
