S.T.A.L.K.E.R: The Faction War

This is the discussion thread for the S.T.A.L.K.E.R:The Faction War mod. The new thread is being created because occasionally it gets too long, and a pain to look through... over a 100 pages is somewhat ridiculous. This will be the third official TFW Thread! The other one will be locked shortly. All new reports and discussions should take place on THIS thread.

The premise of the mod is to take the factional warfare aspect of Stalker: Clear Sky and make it the entire focus of the game, rather than a neglected feature.

The player can pick one of 6 factions:
Duty
Freedom
Defiance (previously "Loners" )
Clear Sky
Bandits
Mercenaries

The goal is complete dominion of the Zone. Currently the game is "finished" once your faction has taken control, but there is a storyline in development that will add another level of depth to the game.

Keep in mind that the game is still in it's development phases, and so bugs are simply a fact of life we have to deal with. However, when a bug is reported, a patch is made as soon as it's fixed, so that gameplay can continue. With that in mind, we ask everyone to post crash reports as often as they occur! This will help us create a stable, fun game.

I'll start up a game and play as a Loner and let you know if I come across any bugs etc.

Having a problem with the mod after I turn DX 10 on, a few of the faction NPCs turn pitch black, so far ive only seen it happening to Clear Sky and Mercs.

Looks like missing textures - you say this only happens in DX10 mode? You might be running out of memory, is there anything in your log that might indicate that (or in the console in-game)?

Nah, I checked and it said nothing about it ; Its only a few npcs, not all of them anyways.
Ive ran DX10 on other mods + Vanilla and ive never seen anything like this.

The only thing I can think of is that you're running out of available memory - TFW uses quite a bit more than vanilla, in particular there's a lot more NPC meshes loaded at any one time. Make sure to exit any unecessary background processes such as AV software etc, and if necessary try lowering the texture detail setting and see if it still occurs.

Also, are you using any other mods such as a 'no pre-fetch' mod?

Actually this is the 5th incarnation.

Should be a pretty stable version overall, with the possible exception of lower end computers. This mod is a resource hog But that's just how it is

I hope that the crashes during blowouts were indeed fixed. Those were quite annoying. Anyway, when asking a duty squad leader for a job, I was told to eliminate a renegade squad, however the text was a little iffy. I didn't get a screenshot but it basically had something like ui_renegade etc etc. which is how I knew I'd be fighting renegades. Anyway, just wanted to let you know so you can check it out.
